I thinkit's read me first and then I wander Cause he loses her in read me and wander by himself in I wander (That's what I'm getting from the plotline)
I was expecting to like Wander more from the lyrics she put out, but I really like Read Me. These videos are so what the US is into right now though, I could do without them.
not gonna pretend that i got the plotline, but it intrigued me a lot. is anyone (maybe those who have read letters to milena) up for providing a comprehensive interpretation of the music vids? for the lazy fucks lol
i wander is such a chill jam, i rlly wanna read the lyrics though
I'm not sure I have understood the MVs but I'm crying now ;_; Could he have some kind of Alzheimer with the caftbook helping him remembering his late wife? idk. That's what I'm seeing anyway and it's so depressing :( I really love 'I Wander', a bit less 'Read Me' but it's still pretty. I'm looking forward to the full release - this is some pre-release like Sunmi with Gashina right?
That's the only way I can make sense of him not really reacting to his wife when we see her old (recent memories and reality being "off" could have him not really understand who she is), but being tender (albeit still a bit lost) with her when we see a kid, since he could be remembering really old memories from when he met her. The way he wanders around town in I Wander is another reason I thought about it, though he doesn't look lost but rather focused (even feverish?) in it. Of course there are a lot of possible interpretations for these MVs!
you put my thoughts into words perfectly. i still wonder how yeeun fits into all of this though. is she supposed to be his granddaughter maybe? yeh, he's probably running to the house that he thought burned up (?). idk sis
He doesn't seem to recognize her when he keeps bumping into her or when get the box from her hands and immediatly close the door back; so either she's a curious and caring neighbour who notices him and decides to help, or she's related to him and Alzheimer/the similar illness is preventing him from remembering (which would be even more depressing TT).
I'm starting to think that he might have lost his wife in the fire and that the box Yeeun gives back to him (with the craftbook) helps him remembering her (aka Read Me, which means Read Me is happening inside I Wander's timeline). The fire is shown as a flash when the rest of the MV is filmed in a really fluid way so I'm guessing it's to show it as traumatic.
Certainely reading too much into this lmao but it shook me so much yesterday, I keep thinking about it!
i think reading into this is probably what yeeun and her team wanted us to do, and i think you nailed it with your intrepretation. it makes so much sense! i'm still a bit confused abt how the franz kafka reference ties into the whole thing - is it just supposed to add another dimension to the overarching theme of longing? i still haven't found any translation of the lyrics though, which i think maybe would clear up some things
I didn't understand Read Me that well, I'll listen to it again later. I Wander is so soft, I love it. The MVs though... :( I'm not in the mood for sadness.
The videos absolutely make the comeback worth it. Not to make sound pretentious but sometimes I just get bored with some of the qualities of the standard K pop video. This was just super bleak and depressing, and while I have enough of that in my life, I just found this in its own way rather refreshing. I'm not a super fan of K R&B (it always sounds so dull to me and the trap retreads over the last year I haven't been better), but I'm willing to give H:ATFELT my time always. It's a little standard but its listenable.
i knew i would love her comeback since i loved her debut album, but she really outdid herself with this. i wander is already one of my favorite kpop songs released this year, probably in my top5 along with gashina and bebe. female soloists are bringing me so much joy this year.. i'm happy.
I like both the songs, but the MVs really sold this comeback for me. I think he lost his wife in a fire, which is why there's an emphasis on that in I Wander, but I might be wrong about that.
There's a Youtube comment that says in the beginning of I Wander, the man's saying villages/buildings were lost in a fire, something about saving inner cities from flames, etc. Then Read Me is him remembering/imagining his late wife there with him younger and younger (assuming they met as children), so she was a hallucination from the beginning? I'm not sure. If someone has a better explanation, I'd love to read it!
Her look and Berlin and that apartment omg people actually live like this here - and yes, even if they could afford something else. This glorification of poverty among German youth I'm gonna ba r f f.
Those mv are fantastic. They are very Amour and its heartbroken tbh. The music, this time, its not my style but im going to wait to hear the full album
