Park Joon Hyung Almost Gets Mugged While Filming in Belgium

Singer Park Joon Hyung posted a clip on his Instagram account of a situation that occurred during the filming of his current reality show "Buying Hardships". The cast had just arrived in Brussels, Belgium when Joon Hyung was approached by strangers greeting him then soon surrounding him and attempting to steal his belongings.

godjp Yo~ Here is the scene that worried and disturbed so many people~ 1st off sorry for worrying everyone and thank you for caring~Basically this was a situation NOBODY was ready or accounted for~it was late at night and we were all very tired from the long flight and had no thoughts walking to out last location with blank minds... and then BAM... at first I thought it was a joke but then when I realized it was a real situation &they were tryin 2 steal from me the 1st thing that came 2 my mind was to get these crazy guys as far away from the rest of the cast and crew as possible because these cats were not in their right minds... and LUCKILY before the situation got worse the rest of the crew who went across the street beforehand came back with the security/bodyguards and the situation was resolved. Basically in whatever country you go to there will be good people and bad. But u always need to be careful~ especially at night in a new place/foreign environment that you have never been to before~ u will automatically be a magnet to trouble since you will stick out like a sore thumb~ even in your own neighborhood in the middle of the night can be dangerous but even more so in a foreign environment~ so EVERYONE if u do go traveling and go out at night PLEASE be careful and move in groups and not alone... remember that nobody is born a bad person... situations make a person bad~ with that note I apologize once more for making so many worry~ and Thanks! BBBAAAMMM!!!

holy shit, as someone from belgium mugging is SUPER common especially in Brussels. they always go for tourists as well. it's why i don't go out in Brussels at night and especially not near Gare Du Nord.

I'm from Belgium and I NEVER go near Gare Du Nord, EVER. And I try to avoid Brussels in general except for Avenue Louise, lmao. I feel so sorry this happened to them here in Belgium thou :( :(. Glad to know all of them are OK.

hope those criminals get apprehended and dealt with. how stupid is it that they'd mug a person who is being filmed. come on. but then again, judging by the comments, it seems like it was a really shady neighbourhood so the criminals are bit more cocky.

There are some places in Brussels (but, like in any big European city with many tourists, it's the case in Paris too) where you have to be extra careful about your belongings. Gare du Nord (and I'm wary about Gare du Midi also) or Boulevard Anspach by night are the ones that come to mind for me. Sucks that he had to experience it :(

I'm Belgian, but I live in Ghent. I grew up in Brussels though and I'm afraad That's pretty common.

The crazy thing is: that move the guy pulled on him? Where he sorta shakes his hand and does the weird leg-hook-jump thingie? That's exactly how I got robbed. Didnt even notice untill he left.

Well in my case, the guy asked for change. So I gave him 2 euro's. 2 minutes later he came back to shake my hand, and while he's doing so, He sorta hoofd his leg around mine and starts jumping while laughing. I dunno, it seemed like some kind of dance, or judo or Whatever. Anyway basically it's to distract you while they steal from your coat pockets etc.

A couple of years ago, I got my phone stolen while leaving Sacre-Coeur basilica in Paris. Was walking towards the funicular that brings you back down and all of a sudden I was surrounded by 3-4 women shoving clipboards at me, I swear they came out of fucking nowhere. Didn't even realize they took anything until I was on the funicular and put my hands in my pocket, just glad they didn't take my wallet that was in the same pocket.

I was fully aware that this was a thing that could happen, so it sucks that much more to get played like that. I was being vigilant until then, slipped up towards the end and left my pocket unzipped. Sigh... life goes on.

i visited paris (and sacre coeur) in august and i was told to put all my valuables in a small bag under all of my clothes. i was so anxious going anywhere and was always on guard. being used to london where people have laughed at me for being vigilant about my things, it was such a huge difference.

I remember when I was in Korea and my Korean and Japanese friends would say something about how dangerous it was to travel to Europe I was like "whaaat? Rich European countries dangerous? That's mental". Until somebody explained how easy it was to get pickpocketed and I realised I had never considered that as "dangerous" because it is so common. Also tourists and mainly Asian tourists are seen as easy targets, when you are raised in a bug European city you just know how to carry your stuff close to your body and what kind of tricks they will try to use.
