Drama News Round Up
2017-09-22 07:49 amThe fall drama cycle is about to kick off in full swing. This week, The King Loves finished its run on MBC and Reunited Worlds wrapped up on SBS. Taking over their time slots are 20th Century Boy and Girl beginning on Monday, September 25, and While You Were Sleeping (1 2 3) on Wednesday, September 27. Also premiering this week is the long awaited Kai-led drama Andante on KBS on Sunday, September 24. (Previous posts with teasers: 1 2 and V LIVE with the cast)
Yoon Park will be returning for the second season of “Age of Youth”!
On September 20, a source from “Age of Youth 2” revealed, “Yoon Park completed filming yesterday (September 19).”
In the first season, Yoon Park’s character Park Jae Wan was a sweet, caring chef who provided love and support to Han Ye Ri‘s character Yoon Jin Myung. The new season has shown scenes of Yoon Jin Myung on the phone with him, revealing that their relationship is still going well.
Previously, Ryu Hwayoung and Ji Il Joo from the first season also made special appearances.
SBS has decided to shelve the Park Hae Jin led myster-romance drama Four Men, according to an official statement given today.
The stated reasons were vague, merely that there were problems with scheduling the show, and ultimately the broadcaster opted not to do so at all. Moreover, PD Oh Jin-seok (an SBS-contracted PD who previously directed Yong-pal and My Sassy Girl) is officially off the project. Asked whether Four Men has a chance at revival at another broadcaster, the SBS rep merely stated that they don’t know.
I suppose it’s always a possibility, though it’s rare for something that was publicly and officially dropped to be picked up by someone else. Initially, the production team had plans to begin filming in November and pre-produce the drama in its entirety. Park Hae-jin was cast in the lead role—er, four of them, playing a man who resembles the heroine’s lost love, as well as twins and another mysterious identity. Nana (The Good Wife) was cast as his detective love interest, Kwak Shi-yang (Chicago Typewriter) as another detective and Park Hae-jin’s friend, and Kyung Su-jin (Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-ju) as a reporter and Nana’s friend.
I don’t know that I find SBS’s explanation very convincing (they couldn’t figure out when to schedule it so they just… killed the project? Instead of waiting, when it’s pre-produced anyway?), but there isn’t much more we can get out of that brief statement. Welp. What could have been.
MBC’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama “20th Century Boy and Girl” has resumed filming.
On September 18, a source from the drama stated, “Filming was resumed on September 16. We are planning to figure out the schedule for the press conference.”
“20th Century Boy and Girl” previously had to halt filming due to the producers going on a general strike against MBC, which began on September 4. However, filming for the drama has resumed after two weeks into the strike, and MBC plans to progress towards the drama’s premiere date of September 25 without any delays.
“20th Century Boy and Girl” is a romance drama that stars Han Ye Seul, Kim Ji Suk, Lee Sang Woo, and more.
