Date: 2017-09-13 01:23 am (UTC)Its feels like the Reply series - its a cross between 1997 and 1988
Its cute - but the writing for Jung-hee needs to make her a little less annoying - there is a way to show immature but loveable (aka Hyeri in 1988), but they aren't hitting it on the nose yet with the character
also dong-moon is the best

Date: 2017-09-13 02:50 am (UTC)I remember her leaving her group and the blind items about her. She hasn't done anything of interest since Reply.
That said I will visit this show when it ends in 3 weeks, sounds like a Reply series.

Date: 2017-09-13 04:09 am (UTC)junghee is cute, imo! buuut i have a problem with all the dream sequences as narrative. it seriously confuses me, tbh, and it's not necessary. her crush with jin is boring me already, tho i think it'll be dissolving in next week's episodes. it makes sense that she's wary of the seoulite girl (hyejoo) and i'm super glad the writer is already thawing that out, or was. i don't know if jin's crush on her'll change anything
the scene where hyejoo and junghee were singing & dancing on the way home was such a cute scene. more of that, pls
dongmoon and junghee's bro are great. i love their friendship. and omg the lovelines in this drama are so ??? confusing, i really can't tell where anything is going, right now

Date: 2017-09-13 05:26 am (UTC)Her family confuses me--the aunt isn't actually related to her, right? Because how they talk to her, how weird the dad is around her tells me they aren't, but I need that backstory. Also the db recapper made me laugh because she was like "oh, the dad gave the cookies to the aunt because he knew she would give them to Jung Hee and that's how he shows her he cares!" umm, no, her dad doesn't care about her at all and was giving the cookies to the aunt. Her dad sucks.
Once again, I'm so happy Jonghyun isn't playing a high school student like I originally thought. I'm digging him in this role as the grumpy handyman who cutely interacts with his sister? daughter? whoever she is. I laughed when his gangster past was revealed but I enjoyed his fight scene.
The high school kids are great, it's fun to see a drama in a time frame that isn't common. I'm digging the music a lot. It's weird for me to think that this time period my mom was a senior in high school haha. I laughed at the drill sergeant PE teacher, that actress is hilarious in everything to me, she's exactly who I would have cast for that role. I hate all the scenes of the teacher beating the kids as punishment, even if it's historically accurate.
Oh Dong Moon. I'm very much not implying that she has to like him or anything, but she was a jerk to him right from the beginning when he had done nothing wrong? He even got his heroic rescue overshadowed by her fantasy of Jin saving her (that shot with them floating high above the water had me totally cracking up). Jin seems too boringly perfect right now, it's pretty obvious that the note Jung Hee found was supposed to be in Hye Joo's bag, yes? Her sleeping with the umbrella made me laugh, but girl, don't be so obvious with your crush!
I'm just happy that we're getting more girl friendship dramas right now (with this, AOY2, and 20th Century Boy and Girl coming up), I love them. I'm hoping that Jung Hee and Hye Joo grow closer (hopefully she doesn't shun her because of a boy) and we see more of Jung Hee's friends (and less screentime for the bullies please). Right now I like the 8 episodes because there will hopefully not be too much filler, but I'm sure in 3 weeks I'll be bummed it's already over.

Date: 2017-09-17 05:24 pm (UTC)i saw some comments complaining about jonghyun's acting but he's not really that bad? (he's been far worse lbr). the entire cast apart from the veterans are quite green, which is fine. i find seo youngjoo and jo byungkoo (junghee's bro) and junghee's gfs to be the most natural. dong-moon is super cute, i knew it would be him to save her (jin oppa's imaginary rescue was hilarious), i think she will slowly change her mind about him. i like that he seems genuinely concerned for her. her impending heartbreak upsets him bc she'll be hurt, not bc he thinks there'll suddenly be a chance for him.
the dad needs a good punch in the face, and i'm so not here for the impending drama with the helper (?) and him when junghee's mum finds out they've got smth going on. since we already know that the women from the factory are going to go missing (ugh this storyline) i think she might end up a victim :( youngchoon is a question mark rn - i'm not sure how he factors into everything. it sucks that her family (and presumably alot of the locals) treat him with suspicion, they're all ~he's not one of us~. typical of the period but still not nice. he's super cute with the kid!
