DIA’s Yebin And Somyi Announce Appearance On “The Unit”

Members of DIA will be joining KBS program “The Unit”!

On September 4, Yebin and Somyi took to the group’s official Instagram to announce the news themselves.

They wrote, “We thought it would be right to first share the news ourselves to our AID fans that are always with us and support us. We put it a lot of thought and concern to come to this decision.”

They continued, “We thought a lot about how to express our thoughts with our members, agency staff, and our CEO, and we decided to talk to our members first. The members gave us lots of support and respected our decision. Afterwards, we told agency staff and made the decision after discussing with them.”

Yebin and Somyi then expressed their worry at fans being too surprised by the news and explained that they wanted to grow more and get evaluated through the program.

“We are so thankful to our members for believing in and loving us, and more than anything, as DIA is so precious to us, we will work even harder. We will not mind the outcome and return as Yebin and Somyi who have grown further. The support of AID fans will give us great strength! We always thank you and love you,” they concluded.

the group will continue to promote without them, in the same way they did without chaeyeon and heehyun during pd101 i guess

i guess enroll your idols in diferent tv survival shows is better than promoting them yourself .... i dont blame them tbh public recognition is hard to maintain maybe they feel like chaeyeon exposure on tv isnt enough(?) 😕

I mean, I respect the hustle. They really milked Chaeyeon's IOI membership by placing her front and center on every promotion, with the most screen time and song lines. I honestly would have never heard of DIA if it weren't for P101. They got a lot of flack for having debuted already when they joined the show so getting flack for joining The Unit will be nothing to them. Rise, shameless queens!

I feel sad for Somyi, she debuted only this year... with some fans being salty about Jooeun and her getting a lot of screen time, I hope she'll have a good experience anyway.
Yebin has an interesting tone, I hope she'll get noticed!!!
I would have expected Eunice or Euijin to go with her, but I guess they could spare only one of the vocalists (hopefully Eunice will cover Yebin's lines while she's away, she doesn't have a lot in the last single).

Dia as a group could need some other push forward though, it's still Chaeyeon with friends (despite the last promotion round being less centered on her) but... their company also needs to do something, it's not like those TV show will magically make this group famous for them. I hate MBK.

I think she was? but she's barely ever used in their songs, the most she sings in on the LUB subunit (and even then, she's now the lead vocal, when Jooeun is the main vocal).
Yebin, Jooeun and Eunice are definitively more of a vocal line with Eunchae and Somyi as back-ups, from what I see (but Eunice criminally underrated and underused, it's so frustrating).
(tbf, I was into them when they debuted, and is getting back into them in 2017, but I haven't really followed their 2016 activities... and that's when Eunchae was added #oopsme)

MBK seems to really hate Eunice... from main vocal to literally getting the same or less amount of lines than Jenny. This would have been a good opportunity for her but alas.
