I definitely wish they'd gone for either this or - preferably - Call my name for the main song & made 'where are you' a pre-release but can only be pleased they switched it and are finding some success.
This is a garbage rejected Apink demo and I hate Cube lmao Cube are so impatient that they just went back to the generic cutesy shit when Crystyle didn't magically sell 100,000 copies. I don't need them to always be 4minute 2.0 but that comeback hugely expanded their international fandom and was the most I've seen people talk about them since debut.
Shit takes TIME, you can't just throw shit at the wall hoping something conveniently blows up. If anyone at Cube had half a brain they'd look around and see there are 500 girl groups doing this exact sound right now and ALL OF THEM ARE FLOPPING because the market is flooded. This concept disappears into the scenery completely. EVERYONE is doing it so NO ONE cares. Conversely, there are very few girl groups promoting atm with a girl crush or even just a mature concept right now so it's the perfect time to strike. Should've promoted Call My Name from day one imo, Liar Liar was everyone's favorite track on Crystyle and it's very similar.
They did this same concept hopping shit with BTOB who also flopped for years and only had the guts to find a niche and let it grow naturally once Sungjae got big. If CLC don't have a Sungjae, they're doomed.
