“Produce 101 Season 2” Contestant Kim Yong Jin Reveals That He Has Glaucoma

Kim Yong Jin, who appeared in Mnet’s “Produce 101 Season 2,” revealed that he has received a diagnosis of glaucoma.

Glaucoma is a condition of the eye in which the pressure inside the eye increases. It can lead to various vision issues, including blindness in some cases.

On July 31, he wrote on his Instagram, “Glaucoma at the age of 21… I am so unfortunate. I just hope I don’t go blind.”

Meanwhile, Kim Yong Jin had also revealed recently that he will be releasing a solo album with a self-written song, making the news all the more heartbreaking.

We hope for Kim Yong Jin’s speedy recovery!

my dad has glaucoma, so i'm very likely to inherit it. i hope it's not too bad for him yet, poor kid

Wow, that's really young... My mom has been on eye drops for her glaucoma for maybe 6 years now. The drops burn pretty badly but they're effective when it comes to bringing down the eye pressure (and a side effect of one of them is longer eye lashes).

You can either use eye drops every day to manage the pressure or have surgery to relieve the pressure (I'm in optometry school), but unfortunately it'll be really annoying to manage regardless of which option. A lot of medications can compound the effects of glaucoma :(
