Girl’s Day’s Yura is the first female idol to film a CF for birth control pills!
Dong-A Pharmaceutical recently released an advertisement for their birth control pill MyBora with Yura as the star. They proudly refers to MyBora as “Yura’s Choice” throughout the short 25-second CF!

The commercial featured Yura going on several different dates with her boyfriend, such as biking and bowling. But it also showed that Yura was also busy at work, and explained that the pill is super convenient for a busy woman.

nice!!

i miss korean bc pills ... no doctor visits, no prescriptions, no insurance, just pop into any old pharmacy on the corner and buy them for $7/month.

here in japan you have to visit the doctor and get an exam before you can get the pills. and usually the pills are only for one month. to get a refill you have to go all the way back to the doctor.. it's so complicated. that's why no one uses them here.

Lol. Tht's why there's a lot of shotgun marriage but it's so complicated having to go doctor once a month. A one time check with the doctor should be enough.

in canada (or ontario at least) you need a doctor's prescription before being able to buy from a pharmacist. i've been able to get a year's worth in one visit before needing a refill prescription (s/o to planned parenthood)

here in the good ol' fuckover USA you have to get a prescription. Can't remember if you still have to get a yearly exam though (as in can't remember if it's federally or state by state mandated.) Lots of women are on the pill here but way more are getting IUDs and such.

I live in Dubai and I used to talk BC pills to treat my PCOD. I get questioned every time I buy them because I'm unmarried, so the pharmacist gives me shady looks and asks why I need them despite me having a prescription.

Acknowledging that a female idol can have sex and isn't a pure virgin object?? Color me surprised.

tbh I don't know much about birth control in KR but I know their sex education isn't great and hopefully having someone popular advertising something like this will help it to not be stigmatized.

I dislike when pharmaceutic companies can advertise their drugs, and even less when they're using celebs... but idk how conservative Korea is regarding birth control? maybe it can make a few women check what kind of birth control they could use.

It depends for me, in this case I do think it's good. Considering that sexual education seems to be lacking in Korea, it seems like putting someone like a celebrity up on the billboard and commercials will at least expose younger, potentially less knowledgeable women that there is some kind of option out there for them.

Yeah that's why I ended my comment with how it can help women, when the gouvernements is lacking, this kind of initiative is welcome.

I thought with how conservative south korea is, a female idol promoting birth control would be career suicide.
