Idol-turned-actor Krystal is apparently going to be the newest idol muse to inspire director Shin Won-ho, who earned accolades with his heartfelt and thoughtful Answer Me series. She’s been named as the female lead in PD Shin’s new tvN drama, Smart Prison Living, which has already cast Jung Kyung-ho to headline in the story that takes a darkly funny look at the lives of prison inmates. Stage and supporting actor Park Hae-soo is also confirmed.

The role out to Krystal is not quite a leading role, given that the drama will be heavily focused around the male leads, but a rep with the drama department described it as the largest female role in the cast.

Smart Prison Living will air on tvN later this year.

isn't kang seungyoon going to be in this too?!! i'm sooooo pysched for this. i'm definitely going to watch (it better get subbed!).

i'm really obsessed with prisons. when i was living in korea i tried to research what korean prisons are like, but there's hardly any good information in english and all my korean friends that i asked thought i was weird and didn't know anything about them, lol. i'm working on a graduate degree and i've already written 2 academic papers about prisons + my field. and then i got to tour my state prison at the beginning of the year for work. it was really interesting. so yeah, my free-time interest and my academic interest finally meet!!

I saw the rumor of Seungyoon being in the drama but haven't seen confirmation/he wasn't at the script reading, so I don't know if he is or not.

hmmmm from what i heard seungyoon was confirmed and she was rumoured but now it seems the other way. pretty much all krystal drama choices were.... well... choices. so i'm not sure if i'm excited about it but i would be really happy to see krystal & seungyoon acting together again.
