YG Entertainment and producing director (PD) Han Dong Chul are planning to launch a “girl group comeback project” soon.

On July 18, a source from YG Entertainment stated, “PD Han Dong Chul will be unveiling a girl group comeback project this fall.”

“It’s a project that is in cooperation with other agencies,” the source continued. They also explained that anyone can take part, including those who are currently signed to agencies or have put out albums in the past.

Han Dong Chul is best known for being the PD behind the first season of “Produce 101,” as well as working on shows such as “Show Me the Money” and “Unpretty Rapstar.” He recently transferred from Mnet to YG Entertainment this spring.

It’s said that YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk has been showing his enthusiasm about the new variety program by taking part in weekly idea meetings.

YG Entertainment is planning to launch four variety shows this fall, including the girl group comeback project show. It has not yet been determined which network the show will be airing on.

Okay this premise could had the potential to be cool. I wish the detail was a bit more concrete in description, but if it was exclusively to ex-group members then I'd definitely watch the hell out of this. Like a second-chance debut for girl groups or solo artists that are stuck in limbo with their agency. (Jimin and Yerin. My poor BBs)

I'd say it's too much, but apparently Idol school got higher ratings than season one or season two of PD101 and that's after everyone complained about over-saturation and the lolita concepts (it also has a different time slot which helps)

I feel like we just heard about a show with a similar concept. Everyone was mentioning that the new show was trying to capitalize on what happened to nu'est and revive ggs that weren't super successful.

I'm all for giving girls a second chance, but I don't put faith in anything related to YGE to help their longevity. Someone like Bom or half of Miss A better show up to make things interesting, because the concept alone isn't really doing it for me.
