Kang Ha Neul for Grazia + Interview

Actor Kang Ha Neul recently completed a photo shoot with Grazia and sat down for an honest interview in which he talks about his image as the industry’s “nice guy,” as well as his upcoming film “Midnight Runners”.

Since his debut, Kang Ha Neul has been working non-stop on project after project and, when asked if his packed schedule is exhausting at all, he responded with a laugh, “A lot of people see me and think that I have a lot of [professional] greed; however, I also just want to rest and am not someone who wants to constantly be working.” The actor continued, “That being said, all of the projects that I’ve completed until now are meaningful because they were made with good people and filled with good energy.”

Kang Ha Neul also talked about his upcoming film “Midnight Runners” and said, “It’s a story about my character and Park Seo Joon’s character, who are both students at the police academy, as they try to solve a kidnapping case that they witnessed together. The character that I’m playing, Hee Yeol, is a lot like the character “Sheldon” from the “Big Bang Theory.” He’s a fairly nerdy character who only has his brains to count on.”

He also talked about his image as the industry’s “nice guy” and said, “I can’t remember a moment in which I lost my temper. When you think about something from the opposing person’s perspective, it’s hard to find a reason to become angry; however, there are some people who see this in a negative light and say that I’m just bottling up my anger. I’ve heard people say that they think I’m weak-willed or that I’m wearing a mask. When I was younger, I was so busy trying to explain away each of these criticisms but now I have learned to just accept that some people will always think that way.”

Meanwhile, actor Kang Ha Neul will officially be enlisting in the military this fall but will film one final drama, Bad Guys 2, before his enlistment.

the news broke out that he won't be able to be in nice guys 2 because there's a conflict between the shooting schedule and his enlistment date D: it looks like khn wanted to rearrange it as much as he can to be in it but the production company just announced his departure.

with khn and uhm tae goo gone and ji soo in i'm just gonna skip out on this :/ i'm so sad we don't get one more drama from him before he's gone for two years :(((((

no, you don't get to set your own enlistment date in general - and he's younger than most actors going to military but he's still much older than most guys going in, who are in early 20s and in college - so as soon as he's willing to go military will take him right in.

I just saw that, I am SO UPSET. I had come to terms with the fact that I wouldn't get him in a romcom before he left and was looking forward to his drama, and now even that's been taken from us.

They confirmed Sept 11 as his enlistment date, so no big projects. I just saw that he's going to be on Radio Star at the end of the month. Hopefully his promo tour for Midnight Runners gives us plenty of KHN time before he leaves.

lulz they're always rude to guests on radio star. at least they got some funny bits out of his episode and that's where he got his "perfect human being who never gets angry" image. khn's agency actually sent them gifts because it got them cf deals haha

WAD. that's a huge bummer. KHN and the rest of the main cast was the only reason i was gonna be tuning in. Now that two of them are gone and jisoo is in...im not gonna tune in at all.

so bummed that he wont be in this project. i was so looking forward to seeing him in a proper drama cause ive never liked anything he's been in (heirs, scarlet heart etc)

It was about two weeks ago they announced it and then today it was confirmed he's enlisting Sept 11. Enlistments have been hitting me hard this year. I hoped KHN would be around for a few more years and get some lead roles, but life isn't fair.

I think he does his best work when he's playing bad guys or morally shady characters like in Empire of Lust and Moon Lovers.
