I don't speak Japanese so I have no idea how good/bad meaning bad the pronunciation is, but I think this one sounds pretty good! And Lisa's rap is fun. "this love is like crack" tho... lol
I mean.. it's just a hyperbole, lots of songs compare love to drugs/addiction. Also she says the word "crack" in English, maybe it's not very well known there?
I avoid looking up translations, for girl groups especially haha It just ruins a lot of songs for me.. I just look for lyrics so that I know who sings what or so that I can sing along properly, blissfully ignorant of the weird song messages.
That's what i go on to colorcoded lyrics for, but the English translations are always right there haha so I tend to have a quick look over a couple of phrases just out of habit
The pronunciation sounds ok to me (granted I'm not fluent) but I always have trouble with pop songs (there's something about the syllables/song being arranged so that the words sound kinda "choppy", idk how to explain it in English) so I can't give a professional opinion..
It always cracks me up when a song's chorus relies so heavily on Korean that it can't be translated and so they just leave it there.
Anyway, it sounds much better in Korean. lol why would they even go to the trouble of making a Japanese version if they couldn't even come up with anything for "buljangnan?" Between that, all the English lines and the awkward sounding Japanese, I don't think this will be that much more appealing to Japanese speakers than the Korean version. Seems like such a waste of effort.
PWF is such a good song T_T Unlike most of YG's stuff nowadays (or ever tbh) it's not over the top, and it's a coherent, consistent sound from beginning to end instead of a mashup of 3 or 4 different things. I'm still so pissed off that they went from this back to 2NE1's recycling bin.
the translation for buljangnan is hiasobi which, with proper pronunciation, is one syllable longer than the original... i can't think of any other way to translate it that would with the rhythm of the song :/
this is probably the only song i've liked by them so far, but i think YG should've waited a lot longer before shippin' them off to japan. i'm not a native speaker, but their pronunciation doesn't sound good to me, lol.
lisa's tone really made me think of tanaka alice at certain points.
i'm honestly curious to see how well they end up doing with their japan debut. from what i've heard most of their songs seem to have more english than japanese with the exception of this version.
I didn't think their pronunciation was that bad but for some reason it sounds really strange to me. Maybe it's because I'm used to the Korean? Or the different syllables of Japanese don't really fit the sound and rhythm
I always assumed they leave in bits of Korean to songs just to remind ppl it's kpop (and maybe that part is too hard to translate... like eurerong in Chinese version)
It sounds good to me, but is there a reason they cut these songs short? Is it laziness? Is it supposed to be some kind of tease? Because it sounds horrible when they just suddenly fade out.
i can't say for sure but, usually japanese companies only post 2/3rds of a song on youtube, sometimes even less - likely to stimulate sales of the CDs (which usually come with the MVs included).
This is definitely the best of the 3 Japanese versions, but it is still lacking. I mean, they could definitely have found an expression in Japanese to swap with buljangnan... I'm sure the Japanese middle and high schoolers will eat it up, though, and YG knows that, which is why the company is never going to try harder. I mean, Twice had bad versions too and just this week i witnessed TT being played during recess in a middle school, and 3 boys next to me waiting to cross the street kept singing the "yamete, yamete" part lol
