i'll risk sounding like an asshole, but I was far from impressed by her in Sixteen. I couldn't see what JYP seemed to see. But good luck to her in this show, girl must tough af to be putting herself through another shitshow like that one

i'm confused by her wording too so this is just my interpretation. i think she left jype and korea to return to thailand and eventually came back to korea to try again? and is now under some other company (i assume she's under a company) to do idol school

idk much about idol school but I think anyone under a company is not allowed to participate, more money for MEnt. I could be wrong tho.

i don't think he actually believed that, I just think he was trying to push Momo to do better by crushing her confidence making her compete against someone (don't want her thinking she's too good) otherwise he wouldn't have risked adding her in the end. but his comments sure made my blood boil. and he was so cruel tbh, like why give someone hope that they were gonna debut - like he did with natty- and then crush that hope like its nothing. he let her stay till the final and then, nope. thanks but we don't need you. honestly if that were me I wouldn't want to see his damn face again. ever.

what's worse is that it's obvious that, like you said, sixteen completely killed momo's confidence (and i don't think hit the stage helped either). she was much more confident in the first episode of sixteen than anytime after that. a part of me thinks that momo was always supposed to be in twice (i'm sure jyp already knew before the show aired some of the members that were going to be in twice, while someone like tzuyu was added due to the interest of the public). but at the same time why eliminate her in the first place then. as for natty, she and somi and chaeryeong were never going to make it into twice due to being too young (esp natty seeing that she was the youngest). it's cruel to toy with a young girl like her like that but that's showbusiness i guess.

I totally agree that he for sure had some members in mind, and I think Momo was one of them. He seemed to like her a lot, and she did well every single time. Like even when he criticized her it was for small matter that can be easily fixed, like her facial expressions (which I thought were fine) or her energy (..wut?) so I was shocked when she was eliminated. Like I knew for sure Chaeyoung was safe -she was brilliant throughout the show, but Jiwon (tho I loved her voice) messed up way too many time, I honestly thought he was gonna pick her. So I don't understand why he kicked Momo to keep Jiwon, only to not pick Jiwon..

That show was a mess from the get to go. Not just in its cruelty, and ridiculous format, but the fact that they made literal children dance to inappropriate songs in inappropriate clothes, and brought in creeps like San E to judge those children.. ew

That reminds me of No Mercy and how they randomly added I.M at the end and tried to pit everyone against him for drama. It was so messed up. Why do I watch survival shows.

I am not sure..... I looked up pics and maybe they do look alike? haha. I.M always reminds me of a Korean version of Ohno Satoshi. I think it's mostly because of the dad jokes though.

No Mercy also had this mosquito on the show who I am CONVINCED was a plant because he stayed on for SO LONG and he was always ranked as more talented than this guy who got eliminated BEFORE HIM. B L A S P H E M Y .

Wow yea... I remember hearing about that and it was why I decided not to watch Sixteen. On No Mercy they added I.M after a lot of their friends had already been eliminated, and also kept rubbing it in to them that I.M didn't go through the same ~struggles. It was seriously so gross. I am too lazy to find subs but just clicking through this you see the horrible awkwardness. I know shit is staged for TV but I am pretty sure this was mostly Mnet fucking with their emotions for $$$ opposed to acting.

Yea, but I feel like with their target demographic, idol elimination shows probably don't need that sort of drama? I don't know. I feel like seeing them portrayed as catty or rude is just going to create potential negativity after a group is formed. (though I guess in cases like Momo, it was used to create support and sympathy for her...)

The worst (best?) thing about mosquito boy was that even though the judges look appalled, they then would go on to compliment him and you could tell they were fighting internally with what they were saying. lmao

No Mercy made me SO MAD. But at the same time, once I heard Changkyun actually perform, I was done.

I also may or may not have pulled a tom cruise style reaction when IM was kept and MInhyukkie as well. I may or may not have screamed for joy while dropping to my knees and then coming back up for air and screaming some more and then jumped up and down.

I.M is my favorite member now, but I think my sentiments when watching the show was bitterness towards him because I loved #GUN and how much Monsta X seemed to love him too. I honestly wish they could have just added him as well.

My other favorite was Yoosu, but I understand why he didn't make it. He is way too vocally talented for a group like Monsta X.

I also remember getting really excited when Hyungwon made the cut because I thought he was surely going to go and he was one of my faves as well despite me acknowledging he wasn't the best at.. anything lmao. I though Minhyuk would make it just because hes a pretty boy and the group needed one lmao.

Sounds like the typical trainee life. You work your ass off, your company is never happy and things go nowhere. Natty was so young on Sixteen and it was so obvious she wouldn't be in the official line up, girl got played hard.

natty was so young too :( idk if i'll watch idol school cause i hate competition shows, the only reason i watched 16 was to get to know twice before they debuted and i ended up liking almost all the girls

everyone from sixteen who didn't make it left except Somi and 1 of the Lee sisters. 3 of them (natty, eunseo, and jiwon) are on Idol School and the Lee Sister who left is at WM entertainment.

To this day I remain with the idea that they (the big wigs) knew who was going to be in the group and having those girls go through that was for drama and sympathy. The only girls whose places were undecided were Mina, Chaeyoung, Tzuyu and maybe Daehyun. Everybody else (including MoMo) was predetermined. The only shocker was Minyoung not making it and that was because they could not justify her low popularity and negative reception.
Natty leaving and coming back is understandable in the sense that she dedicated too much time to just let it go. I'm not saying it's admirable or that she owed anyone but sometimes you get stuck in that mindset that you HAVE to make it. Like would I admit that I was wasting my time on something?
Anyway I was going to ignore this but when I found out that three former SIXTEEN members were a part of it I decided to keep up with this mess. RIP

Oh, for sure. I think the only uncertainty was Tzuyu actually, maybe Mina or Sana. (Mina being unexpectedly placed on the Major team at the start makes me think she was always meant to get extra attention from viewers). With Minyoung idk what happened... the edit she got could have been wayyy better if they wanted her in the group, but considering how the Natty/Momo storyline was handled, it's entirely possible that Mnet/JYPE just suck.

Minyoung buckled when she should have bucked up, and it didn't happen for her. The fact that they focused a lot on her, instead of say trying to make Jiwon look good made it seem like she was supposed to get her redemption, and she just didn't seize it. Like other than one particular moment with her getting chewed out by Sana for missing practice, Minyoung didn't do terribly bad, but not well enough to redeem herself.
(But all this is in theory)

Minyoung def didn't do herself any favours, but I still think if JYPE really wanted her in Twice, they would have made it happen. Jiwon had no chance from the beginning, unfortunately.

ia, though I'd say Chaeyoung, alongside with Nayeon, was the only member I was 100% sure was gonna debut. She was their only good rapper and JYP obviously favored her (justifiably so). The rest of 6mix too, but some of them messed up terribly, and were unpopular, adding them would have caused an uproar = Minyoung

nah Chaeyoung was literally the only rapper and was always gonna be in the group. Mina got placed in Major right off the bat and Dahyun was basically recruited into JYP for her variety potential. Tzuyu's popularity completely caught them off guard tbh, if anything she's the one who took Minyoung's spot.

Mina being in major doesn't mean much considering they put Jihyo in the minors (despite being one of the better trainees), and several of the girls had to drop to the minors at varying points.
Chaeyoung being the decent rapper of the bunch does not mean a thing. If they could not justify her position, than she likely would not have made it. As it turned out, Chaeyoung was likable and did well.
Tzuyu is the real surprise yes, but I still don't believe certain girls were locked for the group until the very end. If they tanked in reception some of these girls likely would not have made it.

Hmm, her reason wasn't what I was expecting but I suppose it's understandable. I probs won't be watching this bc I dislike survival programs but I wish her and the other ex-Sixteen members luck.
