Aside from featuring on Lil Yachty's recent solo album and performing with G-Dragon at the BIGBANG leader's recent solo concert in Seoul, CL has been relatively quiet on the music-front recently. However, that may be changing in a big way if new rumours are to be believed.
According to a new report from Korean media outlet TV Report, American pop group Black Eyed Peas are currently looking for a new vocalist ever since Fergie left and there are rumours that the replacement singer will be none other than CL.
With word that the group are scheduled to release a new album in August, as well as CL's known friendship with Black Eyed Peas leader will.i.am, fans are speculating that the 2NE1 leader will be joining the group for their comeback next month. At the time of writing, there have been no statements in regards to these rumours from YG Entertainment.

2NE1's greatest hits starring CLsolo tour. At this point, I'mma need CL to either put up or shut up. Just keep your friends from updating on your whereabouts. (It's getting annoying as hell, 'cuz you know she is their lifeline.) No updates unless it's musical, and I don't mean pictures in a studio. Do we even know if she's actually working on anything? When it comes to CL, if it has NOTHING to do with anything even SLIGHTLY music related (and BEP sure as hell doesn't count), then I'm prepared to wash my hands clean. /End rantP.S. BEP really does need to die. CL can't help them, and this will make more of a joke out of her solo efforts.

She's seen in studios in her friends' IG stories, like you said, so I assume she's working on something, don't know if it will ever see the light of day though. At the very least, I hope we eventually get that LIFTED EP that was planned when Hello Bitches dropped (it's still mentioned in her apple music bio https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/cl/id655853528), so a compilation of Hello Bitches, LIFTED, Fallin, and another new track should be enough till she/Scooter/YG(?) decides if she's doing it for real or packing up instead.

(Minzy for leaving YG, when YG didn't give her any opportunities, and therefore, no reason to stay. CL for being so damn selfish in wanting a solo career, even though, time and again, she's always mentioned 2NE1 in some capacity.) 2NE1 was over in 2014, when YG decided not to make too much of a priority of clearing up of Bom's scandal (at least compared to his boys) + the sexist reaction of the netizens who couldn't get over it + him blaming her mental condition on why they broke up, aka his own sexism. (I still wonder why Bom had it in her to defend this man, even with the number of times he threw her under the bus.)
Moving on from that lovely (unnecessary) history lesson, it seems that no one knows what to do with CL. I want her to succeed so badly, but it seems like the odds are stacked against her. It's like her team are too concerned about her doing well, versus her actually releasing SOMETHING. At this point, I just want her to release music, not so it can climb the charts, but so fans can listen to it. I want her to enjoy sharing the fruits of her labor with the rest of us, as opposed to just among her and her crew. IS IT WRONG OF ME TO WANT TO SEE CL WIN (WHILE ALSO BEING SLIGHTLY MAD AT HOW THE PROCESS OF HER US CAREER IS GOING)?!
