I've seen some fans say his Mandarin pronunciation is a lot clearer so it could be he spoke Mando with his dad/dad's family more than Cantonese.

huh, i'm no expert but i think if his dad is from hong kong, he should be more comfortable with canto than mando

people from hong kong don't really speak mandarin on a day-to-day basis (i'm from hk - we learn mandarin in school, just like english), or rather, a person who identifies as hong kongese or being "from hong kong" (in this case his dad) would very, very rarely speak mandarin at home. cantonese is very dominant in hk. all mandarin speaking people i know in hk are either from mainland china, taiwan, singapore or malaysia.

still, it's cute hearing him speak canto. i wouldn't be surprised if he's taking mandarin lessons too (most idols do), mandarin is a lot easier to pronounce than cantonese!

Yeah it's surprising especially since he lived in Hong Kong for some time too and his dad only passed last year so I'm sure it was spoken a bit at home.Could just be he's out of practice haha
