shinee to return to tokyo dome for third time in september!

in a greeting video (which can be viewed above) in celebration of their sixth anniversary debut in japan: shinee "sneakily" dropped confirmation that they will be returning to tokyo dome this september. their concerts will be held on september 2nd and 3rd - this being the fifth and sixth time that they have held concerts at the venue overall. they also confirmed that they will be returning to kyocera (osaka) dome for the second year in a row: on september 23rd (key's birthday) and 24th. under the cut you can find information on ticketing, etc. (with the exception of global package details - which is likely to come soon) and a small highlight reel that universal music japan released of select performances from shinee world 2017.

before anyone asks: this is technically a mini dome tour but there's still rumors that they may visit more dome locations during their (last) tour (before hiatus) next year. there's also a lot of people speculating that their korean comeback will be either during the gap between tokyo / kyocera or right after after kyocera. also: it was confirmed that shinee are finishing their world tour, shinee world v, with their stop in bangkok this saturday.

it's not confirmed, just assumed. there was a financial article that came out about sm's plans for the rest of this year / next year that mentioned that shinee is gonna have "their biggest concert ever" in korea before onew enlists. but most people have been expecting for a long time now that he'd enlist at the end of 2018, so. i guess they could go on as just four members but most people figure it makes more sense to just go on a full hiatus because they're very !ot5! and it'd be weird having any of the members mia. esp because jonghyun is likely to enlist sometime between late 2019 / early 2020.

If their thinking is that way, SHINee will be on hiatus for like 4/6 years if they want them to always promote as five. Indeed this thinking doesnt make any sense.

it doesn't make any sense and i'd love for them to enlist together but i'm doubtful that's gonna happen. :/ like i could maybe see key and minho enlisting a year earlier than expected / at the same time as jonghyun but ... taemin. he's still super young and it's pretty obvious that both sm and umj are preparing for him to promote hardcore in japan as a solo act, sigh. which i get from a financial standpoint because he's the most popular member in japan, but.

I think even if Taem wanted to enlist together, SM wouldn't allow it. With how Japanese love him, they are not going to stop with his solo activities..

that's how i feel about it too. it's obvious that shinee are really dedicated to the ot5-ness of the group and i think if taemin had the choice he probably would - but, like you said, there's no way sm is gonna let that happen. not when they can get jpn!touring $$$$ out of him.

as the only group I've ever been truly invested in, thinking about the oncoming hiatus already makes my skin crawl lol. it's the kind of thing you /know/ it's coming and should be ready for but.... :/

I'm not opposed to more jpn activities to bring in that cash as long as it goes into their comeback budget tbh. the boys never seem to get past the emotion of performing at td and the dxdxd tour dvd is one of my favorites so far, so I'm definitely looking forward to it! 2015 was a magical time with both tokyo dome performances + the release of odd, hopefully we'll get something like that again (':

i kind of have my theories about how the next year is going to go for them, tbh. i'd been predicting the september dome concerts for awhile now because a dancer "leaked" september as a potential date for them back in april. beyond that: reports have been pegging them for a q3 korean comeback for awhile now and i think it'll be either between the tokyo / kyocera dates or at the end of september / start of october. then they'll probably do another jat around the start of next year (+ another jpn album) and either do a tenth anniversary comeback next may or release a special album for their anniversary before kicking off swc6 as their last pre-hiatus tour. give or take. i also could see a repack in november if they release another full this year.

i also think we may, finally, get that onew solo debut next year before he enlists based on some comments he's made in the last six months about slowly preparing for the possibility of a solo / wanting one.

Ugh, I can't wait to for Onews solo album. Part of me is kind of sad that it'll be before he enlists so he won't have a go at developing as a solo artist like Taemin or Jonghyun. But I'm just more than happy he really wants to release one. Once he's served, and if he wants to continue singing, I hope he gets to releases more albums.

OP, why did you call the 4 dates as 'mini' dome tour? Isn't it the normal concert dates that most groups have when it comes to dome concert?

cautious wording, lol. i've been seeing most shawols refer to it as a mini dome tour - and implying that it wouldn't be an "actual" dome tour until they're schedule for at least two others. like i personally consider it an "actual" dome tour but.

Ahh is that so? Then they are partially right. But to get other domes; Sapporo, Fukuoka and Nagoya -- were pretty much a very high hurdle to achieve. DX Even famous acts in Japan having trouble to fill Sapporo.

super happy for the dome dates to be announced!! i already thought tokyo dome would be in that time slot bc of that dancer leak + other weeks in sept already being booked in td (lol it's fun to see predictions come true again) but yaay for kyocera dome too! shinee is doing sooo many concert this year it's insane (especially jonghyun....dude...how are you still alive?!)

wow if they do another album and possible swc6 tour too wow (let's not talk about how incredible sad i truely am bc i didn't have the chance to see the glorious swc5....my fave setlist so far besides swc3/4....but europe and i'm not rich + uni student so :/) i would prefer shinee to do the new album after the domes bc otherwise they would miss the sat/sun music shows which would be sad and a waste tbh and they would be able to do less variety stuff ;-; i loved all the 1of1/1and1 promo stuff (sm pls put in some effort again this year thank u)

hiatus...i don't wanna think of it yet...next year maybe for now i will live in my delusional ot5 bubble which will last forever byeeeee tho onew pls do have that solo, it would be regretful for him if he lets the chance slip and is shipped off (you never know how hiatus will impact shinee's popularity, better strike while the iron is hot esp since he will play in AoY s2 soon too)
