Baekhyun asks fan not to take pictures of him and his SMTOWN friends in Jeju

On June 20, EXO’s Baekhyun spoke up about an issue that is making him uncomfortable.

SMTOWN started their workshop at Jeju Island with their artists and employees on June 19. Fans have been trying to snap photos of Baekhyun and others during their time there.



He wrote, “I came to enjoy a vacation.. I don’t even look pretty.. I don’t think photos should be taken. I understand your feelings of love, but can you restrain yourself a little? This is my request.”

Most fans are asking fans to not take photos of Baekhyun as it is a short period of rest during his busy schedule.

SMTOWN’s workshop will end on June 21.

Taking pictures of them outside of official events is paparazzi behaviour, not something someone who respects/is a fan of the celebrity would do.

ugh there's so many fansites there :((( i haven't looked in my exo/rv lists but there were dozens of nct fansites posting pics. and it annoys me even more that ifans act like it's all cool and hype them up and sm isn't doing anything about making sure their artists get their privacy off-schedule but they're imposing more restrictions in organised fan signs. this company's priorities are a mess. i hope baekhyun doesn't get hate and fans listen rme

ikr that was upsetting. kfans were mad and asking the fansite to delete them while ifans were chill because apparently it's a public place and because the people there let the fansite master in it's a-okay! then the fansite posted a message that she doesn't care and she won't delete lmao

i had the same discussion with a fy blog admin that those were sasaeng pics and she didn't see them as such and still posted them :/

the fansite worshipping has to stop, too many fansites are toxic fans (sasaeng, akgae, disrespect anyone for their idols, and disrespect the idols themselves), it also annoys me how much power they have in the fandoms.

god. yeah. i was looking back to see if any of the fansites i follow (from all groups, not just sm) had posted any new photos when i was sleeping and i was surprised at how many nct fansites were there?? esp because i didn't see any shinee or snsd fansites there. but i guess that goes to show, once again, that nct has picked up on fansite masters that cross boundaries. :/ hopefully it'll stop before it gets worse, or the inner circles there will create more unofficial rules. like i know k-shawols are really serious about not taking pictures of shinee during private events, outside of official schedules or beyond the paparazzi checkpoint at airports. i remember late last year they're pressed two long standing / popular jonghyun fansites to shut down because they'd been taking / sharing pictures at private events, and it happened with a key fansite a few months ago too.

honestly! nct has really awful fansites and i just want them all to go away already. i mean i expected for fansites to move to the shiny new group, but they've really attracted some of the worst and they're so unashamed of their awfulness, it's infuriating. ifans add fuel to the fire because they stand by anything these fansites do while kfans call them out on it. like when they followed nct to chiang mai and released hundreds of pictures of them filming nct life and they got called out, there were even sasaeng fansites lists to block going around, but ifans shrugged it off and shielded them. then they did the same when nct went to osaka, but waited until the season got announced to release the pics and ofc they got praised by ifans for it like, they shouldn't have been there in the first place but ok. i hate this worship of fansites, even tho i do enjoy the pictures, but it goes way too far most times

EXO has the worst sasaengs currently and I think a lot of fansites are slipping into this territory. SM should take a leaf out of Big Hit's book and be very strict about their stance on taking sneak photos/following people around on private schedules.

I know BTS fansites were dragged for being on same flights as BTS and taking photos of the boys off-duty, ifans need to learn where to draw lines. I know when Bangtan was in Chile and the BS went down with them, we had big accounts reposting content about how people need to watch themselves and not cosign this behaviour.

The problem with SM is that they don't draw lines with sasaengs at all, they think because most of them bulk buy it's okay to do whatever they want to their artists.

It really frustrates me because the same people I'll see writing a thinkpiece on tumblr about the dangers of sasaengs will then reblog LITERAL sasaeng pics, sasaeng rumors, etc and then also reblog pictures from fansites that are known for exhibiting sasaeng behavior. It's like no one really cares as long as they get more pics and details about oppa.

Yeah, I'm always so annoyed when sneak-shot pics of idols out shopping show up on my tl, especially the ones where the idols don't seem to be aware they're being watched and photographed. It's always so creepy.

I think they did the fansigning restrictions because of Haechan's incident. I heard that the supposed audio file was of him talking to the sasaeng during a fansign and the audio had a bunch of noise cancelation in it idk

Sometimes I wonder why I don't stan the really popular groups with huge fanbase coz I can get updates about them regularly without much effort (as an international fan, its hard to get updates sometimes) but seeing the idols so stressed about these things made me realize its not something they appreciate and so I wouldn't want to be part of it.

A friend of mine (a fangirl who wanted to live the life of a fulltime fangirl so she's now based in Korea) shared that the SM stans who started with DBSK to SUJU to SHINEE to EXO and now to NCT have serious cases of sasaengs.
