Popular idol groups, SS501 and 2NE1 withdrew from attending the Melon Music Awards.
DSP Entertainment, SS501's production company, has said in an phone interview with The Daily that the group's Asian Tour schedule would not allow them to attend. Fellow DSP group, Kara, is also "unlikely to attend" and has not confirmed yet.
YG Entertainment, 2NE1's production company, has also revealed through telephone interview with The Daily, that "2NE1 cannot attend. Big Bang has also not confirmed their attendance."
Prior to these announcements, SM Entertainment groups, SNSD and Super Junior has revealed the possibility of their attendance in the Melon Music Awards. SS501, 2NE1, Kara, and Big Bang are those who have the possibility of not attending. Melon Music Awards is an annual activity, which recognizes active artists and released songs. This year, it will be held on December 16th at 7PM at the Olympic Park Stadium.

I don't really know if it has to do with the fact that they aren't close to leading in any of the categories, since I've seen YG only promote his artists at places where they can win something.
I can't wait for the SM fest though, even thought it wont be as awesome as SM town, it'll at least make up for the lack of SM bias from other shows.
