Omona's Pick: Top 6 Live Performances That Make You Cry

Everyone has those days when they just need a good cry. Whether it's something happening in your day or just feeling melancholy for no particular reason at all, we all need catharsis. I don't know about you, but one of the best ways for me to find that is turning to some tried and true live performances that never fail to make me tear up. So in no particular order, I present: Top 6 Live Performances That Make Me You Cry


1. Park Hyoshin - Wildflower

The song itself is already incredibly emotional, but when his breath catches at 3:57, the waterworks hit me at the same time they hit him.

2. TVXQ - Love in the Ice

What words are there to say about this song. Half the tears come from the song, the other half from TVXQ being the first K-pop break up I was exposed to. Speaking of K-pop break ups...

3. Girls' Generation - Into the New World (ballad ver.)

I was never a huge SNSD fan, but this live performance hit me right in the feels. The symbolism of singing their debut song and just realizing how much things and they themselves have changed since then... oof.

4. I.O.I. - Downpour

I didn't watch p101 s1 until after it all aired, but I'm so deep in the season 2 trap that this song has so much more meaning for me now. Watching this performance reminds me that these girls are so young, and it makes it all the more heartbreaking that they had to go their separate ways.

5. Infinite - Voice of My Heart

Sometimes I think about how far Infinite has come, from being a small group from a small company to one of the most solid and well-respected groups in the industry, and I cry a little. I've loved every single title track they've put out, but Voice of My Heart has a special place in my heart (hehe, get it?) for Sunggyu and Woohyun's crazy high notes. They're really singing their hearts out, and it never fails to make me tear up.

Last but not least...

6. Day6 - Congratulations

How could I conclude this list with Day6? This is from their first showcase in Taiwan, and in the middle of their encore performance, the fans flipped up banners that read, "Congratulations on your debut, you're unbelievable." Cue everyone bursting into tears while singing. Me too, me too.

Produce 101 - Downpour Cover

Man... Say you want about this season's talent, but when the trainees backstage started crying, so did I. This might not be the best technical performance, but I thought it was the rawest and most emotional of the night. Hats off to them, especially vocal king Jaehwan. if he doesn't make top 11 I riot

Once in karaoke, I cant do Jessica's part near the end of the song because I choked. She just kicked out of SNSD not long before, and the song was just beautiful

For me...BTOB and Melody singing "Its OK". Its so beautiful to see the fans singing together with them the whole duration of the song (even the rap parts!). Eunkwang got teary-eyed and Sungjae and Hyunsik smiling after seeing their leader crying.



Produce 101's "Downpour" made me cry the first time I watched it. And that live stage of Love in the Ice is my fave!

pd101 season 1 - my best. with these girls who were low ranked, knew they wouldn't make it and got noticed for the first (and last) time, and the song's lyrics hit home too...

i know yoochun is a trash human being so when the news about it came out i tried my hardest to separate him from that love in the ice performance because hooooly shit, it's probably my favourite and i cry every single time. it's so freaking good.

also yay for voice of my heart. i don't cry necessarily (hoya's hairstyle distracts me), but i always get goosebamps at 4:45. I've been trying to come with a theory as to why Infinite V still isn't a thing for months and I'm coming up empty. There is no logical reason why they didn't release anything together yet.

i always cry when i hear shinee's reply. i don't have a specific performance in mind, I just cry when I hear it.

i'm the worst crybaby so there are too many performances that make me cry. they're not all sad, I'm sure I cried while watching fantastic baby or something. basically if i feel a strong emotion i cry.

ITNW got me so bad when I first watched it. My heart was already broken with Jessica being gone and then they had FINALLY had their Tokyo dome concert and my emotions were all over the place.

I also cried at SHINee's Replay they had done on their most recent SHINee Worldtour. Jong started crying and the audience was singing for them and I just started bawling my eyes out because I love them so much lmao.

The performance that always makes me cry is Secret's performance of "3 Years 6 Months" at their debut showcase:



You can see them getting emotional as they sing about all the hardships they had gone through and then you see them realize that they're finally standing up there and debuting — Guh, my heart!
