i honestly feel healed listening to vocals like these, with all the roughness in the world i like a more innocent group every now and then. i think if there was a single vocalist w a song like this and put it out, it'd be herald as indie and everyone would love it but bc it's a group- instant innocent concept hate
Groups like this just /remind/ me of all the roughness in the world because they're styled like children yet their label is marketing them to appeal to grown men. The state of girl groups depresses me in general, it's not just about not liking cutesy things LOL. :(
Yea I agree. :/ I love a good cute concept, there was plenty when I got into kpop back in 2008/2009. My issue is the cute concept has been taken over by the 'schoolgirl concept'. Kpop is heavily consumed by teens so I can see them wanting to see girls their age being cute, but idk realistically how many really get excited about school uniforms. The schoolgirl concept is geared way more towards old men perving on barely legal girls, which is fucked up. Also idk why companies are chasing after old men coin, when groups who have a large female fan (or even a large gay male fan base if you look at pop stars in the west) have more longevity than a group that relies on straight male fans who really lack loyalty. (Sorry this rant went on longer than I meant)
I really like "school girl/school uniform concepts" (I guess that's because I wore one for eight years and it reminds me of "simpler times"! xd). But I agree, this concept is often so sexualized and male gazey it's disgusting. I think "Rough" by Gfriend is a good example of how this concept looks like, when it's well done!
Is the tall girl with the long reddish hair half Korean? She has such a unique eye shape and color, they look so pretty and her voice is my favorite of the group
