Upcoming drama “Bride of the Water God” has released still cuts of the cast’s first script that took place in March.

Actors including Shin Se Kyung, Nam Joo Hyuk, Im Joo Hwan, f(x)’s Krystal, and Gong Myung took part in the read-through with producer Kim Byung Soo and writer Jung Yoon Jung.

Kim Byung Soo started off by saying, “I will work my hardest so we can complete the drama well without any troubles.” Jung Yoon Jung showed her trust in the cast and crew, adding, “If the actors and production team work hard together, a great drama is bound to be born. I hope the incredible passion of the actors can allow us to create something that capture the hearts of viewers.

Once the script reading began, the facial expressions of the actors completely shifted as they poured in passion for their new characters.

Shin Se Kyung brought her character So Ah to life with expressive emotions and youthful energy. She commented, “Please look forward to the sweet romance with the water god,” hinting at her chemistry with Nam Joo Hyuk.

Nam Joo Hyuk declared, “I will work my hardest,” and showed the thought he put into his character, the water god Ha Baek, with impressive facial expressions and gestures.

Im Joo Hwan, Krystal, and Gong Myung also demonstrated their strong acting skills and unique charms, raising anticipation for the positive result their teamwork will bring to the drama.

“Bride of the Water God” is a modern day adaption of a Korean manhwa of the same title. The tvN drama will air its first episode on July 3 at 10:50 p.m. KST after the conclusion of “Circle.”

shin se kyung already looks so done w/ this drama. i mean i can't blame her, from yoo ah in to nam joo hyuk? and except im joo hwan and her, there's no experienced actor in the main cast.

again, im joo hwan is stuck playing second lead, although he's a better actor than the main lead.

Imao@SSK in both of her pics, with NJH she's like "please, take me out of here" and solo one "is there any sense in life after all?" lol

mte she doesn't even hide her distaste lol

tbh i think her agency (namoo actors) pushed her into this. originally, moon chae won was offered the same role, who's also signed to namoo actors.

I'm not suprised @MCH being nope to this - her last drama ended up overlapping with DOTS and going unnoticed, she do not need a hmmmm quite questionable project right now lol
I would also go for Lee Junki and quite still a novelty with adaptation of US thing like she did.

goodbye mr. black was such a mess. the script had its flaws, but the bad directing and editing ruined it.

mcw doesn't need another potential train wreck.

ugh can someone pls explain to me why good actors like Im Joo Hwan (and a few others in the industry like him) are always, always stuck playing second leads/minor side roles and you have people like Nam Joo Hyuk as a lead? =X at this point, i just think it's an agency/connections/popularity thing.

I actually quite like the cast (dunks). NJH isn't leading man material but was at least likeable on screen in WF. Gong Myung was great in Drinking Solo and Individualist Ji Young, Shin Se Kyung is capable, Im Joo Hwan is always great and Krystal was one of the more bearable things about Heirs.

I would have preferred a more faithful adaption with a more experienced cast, but I will still check this out when it arrives.

Im Joo Hwan deserves better than playing second fiddle to talentless hacks yet again

I don't even know what to think about this drama. I don't have any strong feelings either way--I'll check it out but don't have any expectations at all. I am bitter Im Joo Hwan is not getting the roles he deserves.

despite the generally good track record of the writer/PD, this looks doomed. can't tvn do smth decent for once and give im joo hwan his own series as lead???

also i know this is petty af, but i'm so bitter about njh's success. he's damn lucky he's pretty and has a good agency otherwise there's no way he would get the opportunities he does.

nah i feel you about njh's success, i feel the same about lee sungkyung. much as she's gorgeous and seems likeable, she's not a good actress and doesn't have much screen presence

i used to think lee sungkyung sucked but she's improved in her last couple of projects and showed a bit of range/versatility. i would still say she was the better actor between them but ia she's not good either. both of them are hugely overrated and have got where they are bc their agency for sure.
