Good news, everyone!

After a lackluster week on the charts (for Twice standards), it seems the promotions are finally starting to kick in. It shouldn't be a surprise, it's what Twice does best after all. They work their butts off, no matter what garbage JYP throws at them. He really should be on his hands and knees thanking these girls for saving his career and company. I mean, let's face it, this shouldn't be a No.1 song. Now let's hope it doesn't do too well, so he never gets another chance to ruin Twice's career.

I was just joking that if the song doesn't do well, the company won't give JYP another chance to write a song for Twice. It's mostly what I personally want, since I don't really like the guy and this is my least favorite Twice title track.

honestly, signal isn't that bad. the way people talk about it you'd think it's wolf level bad but it's not. although i'm not sure if it's twice's worst title track or if cheer up is still the worst. either way apparently they had more unique listeners in their second week than TT and knock knock had, so i hope this means they'll stay stable at #1. despite this, i highly doubt jyp will give them a title track ever again bc their first week was just too underwhelming for twice standards

I think Signal is better than Cheer Up, I can't stand Cheer up's chorus and laughable dance break, the lyrics are bad too. But both songs have some disconnected parts that sound SO BAD that fucks up the entire song for me, in Signal it happens right in the beginning with Momo and Mina. I HATE the way they sing in the rap/talk segment and they sound plain bad in it. Mina, I love her, but I don't get how she gets so many parts. She has a pretty voice, but sings in a way that seems like she's trying to put herself to sleep. It works perfectly in songs like Melting, but it just doesn't fit in upbeat songs like Signal, specially when she has to do something different. I also hate the way they make Momo sing, believe me, she can do much better, even Dahyun gets better parts that fit her voice. Another thing that pisses me about this song is the underwhelming chorus with the lack of Jihyo, Nayeon and Jeongyeon in it. They are the life of their songs and even tho I love Tzuyu's and Sana's progress, we have to establish limits.
Anyway, sorry for the long unnecessary rant, I just needed to take it off my chest lol

i don't mind! i agree with everything you said about cheer up and signal. and the worst part is that signal could be so easily salvageable. Just getting rid of the rap/talk part would be such a huge improvement.

you're also right about the chorus in signal. there's just no energy in it? i'm really not a big fan of twice's music but i would never say that their songs lacked power, so to speak. and signal just sounds so... tired.

jihyo and nayeon should have sang the chorus, i definitely agree.

can't really say anything about momo and mina's voices because i simply don't know them well enough to have anything constructive to say :P

Ikr? As you said, any person could fix the song, had they switched some parts between the girls and gotten rid of the rap lol these experimental kind of songs need to go. And as you said, Sana and Tzuyu have no power in their voices to sing a chorus, so it had no impact. If this was arranged better like in KK the girls could take turns during the chorus, but that wasn't what happened, so it sounds flat and with low energy. Or they could opt to give Jeongyeon a damn chorus for a change. Oh well.

i mean if we talk about digital charts impact knock knock did instant all-kills and a couple of paks even before the ichart system changed (it was a little bit harder to get paks back then) .... new charts system made paks & caks even easier to get but twice isnt getting any

for twice standards they are "flopping" because with Cheer Up, TT, and Knock Knock they all got PAK's almost instantly. This time Psy & Unnies were beating them since they released the song and they would move all the way down to like #5 on the iChart sometimes.

I just think that JYPE is rushing everything after TT's promotions. They're lucky to have a competent team for their MVs, that have great replay value, and a well balanced and hard working team like Twice, they can sell anything with how adorable they are. Even when they're supposed to flop, like what happened with LOA and now with Signal, after promotions, it will rise on popularity.

totally agree with you , TT is still twice biggest achievement in all aspects ... they broke kpop girlsgroups records hanteo sales, digital charts, naver/youtube views and public recognition impact all at the same time

like other user pointed out, with every new song twice break their own record of melon unique listeners.... which means at this point many casual listeners/non-fans wait for their music but not always replay their songs

TWICE fans must be rich because Lanecoaster 2 had two versions and then Signal had three versions. It's interesting that the sales are still relatively close to each other w the extra version and all.

I've kind of gotten an impression fans are just buying albums for the records. Since the fandom can't have grown that much just in three months, the numbers are pretty much the same. Lanecoaster 2 sold very little after the first week, I think Signal will probably keep up at least a little better since there's actually new music this time.

Twice is too much a phenomenon to flop so easily. If they do a successful round of promos in Japan and comeback with great hype in October/November, than they're set as the NGG. Hope they don't die in the process lol my poor babies, and that JYPE debuts a new gg next year, with Sixteen 2 (+1 year of training for the new group), so they can rebuild a new successful act like WG/Miss A first years (bf they fucked up bad these groups).
