On May 14, the show’s production team explained, “Jinyoung will appear as an agency senior of the seven members in the drama ‘Let’s Walk the Flower Road,’ written by the members of ‘Idol Drama Operation Team.'”

This acting cameo is gathering interest, as he received positive reviews for his acting in “Moonlight Drawn by Clouds.”

Jinyoung also produced the title song of the girl group in the drama. While his previous songs “In the Same Place” and “When Cherry Blossoms Fade” are calm and lyrical, his new song will be a powerful track that gives girl crush vibes.

“Idol Drama Operation Team” is Korea’s first mission variety program in which seven girl group members work together to write the script for their own drama and act in it. Their drama is titled “Let’s Walk the Flower Road” (tentative title), and the seven members are Red Velvet’s Seulgi, MAMAMOO’s Moonbyul, I.O.I’s Jeon Somi, CIVA’s Kim Sohee, Lovelyz’s Soojung, SONAMOO’s D.ana, and Oh My Girl’s YooA. Other celebrities who will appear in the drama are Im Won Hee, Jang Won Young, Shin Hyun Joon, Jun So Min, Kwon Oh Joong, Dynamic Duo, Kim Chungha, Kim Jong Min, and Hyerim.

The variety show will premiere on May 29 KST through Naver TV, V Live, and YouTube.

Baro Promoting "Closed Eyes" movie, his first leading role:

Closed Eyes is a mystery thriller based on the webtoon of the same name. It’s a story about the blind Hyunwoo (played by Baro) and Mirim (played by Seol Ina) who become wrapped up in a serial murder case. In this project Baro is playing the role of someone who is blind. Seol Ina, who many people know from JTBC’s Strong Woman Do Bongsoon, is playing a high school student who likes Baro and follows him around. Actor Jo Youngjin will be playing a detective.

Writer Ha Seunghyeon expressed her attempts at making a distinction from the original webtoon. She said, “It’s not like we couldn’t have used the webtoon as it is. Many readers have already seen Closed Eyes.” She continued to confess, “Because it’s a mystery thriller, we already have the ending. I had a lot of worries about I could be able to show people that point differently.” Following that she said, “Out of everything that I’ve ever written, this was the hardest. It’s because we had to take a break every ten minutes.” Additionally she added, “It wouldn’t work if one scene wasn’t fun. That kind of thing is hard as a writer. It was the hardest thing I’d ever done.”

Baro also expressed his feelings towards his first time as the lead. When asked about his feelings towards that particular point Baro said, “I called my mom. My mom said that we should go eat meat. There’s a hill near our house.” He also continued saying, “The burden also seemed to grow bigger. I was going to act together with such great seniors but it was me who was the lead. I frequently thought that it wasn’t going to work if there were even the slightest problem with my acting.”

In particular, Baro put in a lot of effort in order to act the part of someone who is blind. He said, “Hyunwoo is a character that hides his pain in order to live and is also a character who pretends to be blind.” He continued saying, “I thought there was going to be a bit of a crisis since instead of a blind person you have someone that’s pretending to be blind.” Additionally he expressed, “I haven’t done many projects yet, but I like to talk with the directors. So I asked the director a lot of questions in order to match the role well.”

When Baro was asked about whether he had wanted to play any of the characters that his members have played before he nervously answered, “I think it’d be good if I were to play my characters well.” He did say, “The members supported me a lot. I had filming on a cold day and because of the weather they worried a lot about me and gave me a lot of strength.” Baro added, “Every time Sandeul, who is the same age as me, went to a filming site, he would ask ‘Do you have a hot pack,’ taking care of me in various ways.”

He also expressed his affection for his co-star Seol Ina saying, “This was the first time that Seol Ina and I have worked together. When we were at the table reading I was really surprised. He also said, “She’s also someone who was really energetic while on set and that was a lot of help.” Baro further explained, “Even though there are some dark parts in the movie, we were always smiling. She talked a lot with me. She’s someone who gave me the most strength on set.” As expected, Seol Ina replied, “It’s the first time I’m a lead, too. I would film in a nervous state and there were a lot of cuts where I wasn’t satisfied with myself, but the director, my seniors, and Baro-oppa especially helped a lot.”
