IMPORTANCE OF SOURCING CORRECTLY

The mods cannot emphasise enough to give credit to the sources and translations that you put and use from various forums and news sites. It takes time for people to translate and it would only be polite to give them credit and appreciation for the work that they do.


Our rule is that you NAME the site. Most forums have ending credits for their translation as such and this should be the proper way to name your source:

EXAMPLE 1: FORUMS & THE LIKES
Source: Newsen + HeyJJ
Translation: sshutingg @ OneTVXQ.com
Credits: OneTVXQ.com { One World. One Red Ocean. One TVXQ! }
Feel free to repost, but please leave the full credits intact. Thanks!


EXAMPLE 2: WEBSITES
Source:Donga
Via: dramabeans


EXAMPLE 3: YOUTUBE
linking to a direct video source : sorakaleido (for 1 video)
linking to a youtube channel: CodeMonmonSeason5(for more than 1 video from the same user)


EXAMPLE 4: TWITTER
Source:Shindong's Twitter (ALWAYS LINK DIRECTLY TO THE TWEET!)

Whatever the forum or site gives you, you have to credit and source it properly. Always link to the original if your source has it.

The mods do not join every single fan forum (only the ones we like duh keke) and thus cannot see every article posted. When you give a direct link, the mods trust you despite being unable to see the forum post sometimes. Please follow the forum/site rules! If they have specifically stated to not take it out of the forum, please respect their requests. If the mods get a PM regarding articles being taken out of forums without permission, the post will be deleted and the poster will get a warning. If we keep getting messages about people taking out info that shouldn't be taken out we might have to reject all posts from forums so that OMNTD doesn't get unnecessary problems.

What if the site I take the translations from doesn't provide a link to the thread in a particular but I don't have an account in the forum and thus can't get to the thread?

You can just link directly to that source that you got it from instead. But if let's say a member comes along and gives you a direct link to the forum, you are more than welcome to edit it.

One of the forums I used to grab things from made it blanket for the 'current' time period that nothing is to be taken out anymore and went back and edited the majority of their posts to reflect this.

This isn't going to count against me now, is it? Some of the things I've had posted here have since been made "unshareable".

It depends on the forum tbh. What does the forum feel about it? If it's okay on their part, then we're fine. We just don't want to piss off the other forum moderators.

From the PM I got, they state that the translations cannot be taken out any longer (as of two days ago) until further notice, but linking to the thread in particular is fine. I'm not quite sure what to make of that.

Looking at some of the things I've had posted here, before two days ago, I know at the time I wasn't in the wrong, but eh.

You should. I know it's putting people into a difficult position here because they have their own rules there and we have own rules here D: It's a little silly to fault you for posting a piece of news that is made unsharable like 2 days later, cos... lolwhat.

Mods over at other forums can PM me or any of the mods requesting to take down articles they do not wish to be shared anymore.

About example one, in the Narsha post I made last night a mod said it was unnecessary that I include the name of the forum member who posted the link on the BEG Intl' Forums. He provided the link, and translated the article from Newsen (though I didn't really use the text from that).

Even if you wanted to link back to the forum, you should link back directly to the forum post that he made instead of linking it back to the main home page.

"Please link the playlist, not the channel"

I just got the above rejection message from a moderator saying my source link should be the playlist of all the videos instead of the channel, even though not all of the videos I had embedded on my post were on that playlist. When did this change?? Whenever I have embedded videos and they are all from one singular uploader, I have just simply linked the channel and you guys had no problems with that.
