And it's all thanks to Produce 101!
NU'EST are one of the more high-profile contestants in season 2 of Produce 101, despite having debuted back in 2012. While the winners of the show have yet to be announced, it appears that NU'EST's appearance on the show has already paid off big time!
Despite releasing their most recent album "Canvas" way back in August 2016, the exposure from NU'EST's appearance on Produce 101 has resulted in the album (and some of the group's older albums) to re-enter various Korean music charts.
Over on the best-selling physical albums chart on HANTEO, NU'EST have re-entered the chart at No.5, No.9, and No.14 with "Canvas," "Q Is" and "Action" respectively.

And finally, the boys have also hit it big on the Melon charts, coming in at No.12 on the Korean Male Group chart, as well as coming in at No.39 on Melon's Top 100 Popular Artists.

Not only have NU'EST managed to re-enter various music charts, but fans have also reported that the group's albums are sold out on a number of K-pop sites, such as YesAsia and KpopMart.
WOW!
Keep up the hard work, NU'EST, we are behind you all the way!

Date: 2017-05-10 06:01 pm (UTC)Ren and Jonghyun especially have gotten a massive boost from this. I wonder how awkward it will be for Aron after this lol.

Date: 2017-05-10 06:23 pm (UTC)And knowing how much many Nuest fans loathe the Seventeen boys, I can't help think it's really weird that that tweet translated everything on the hanteo chart right but the fact that Seventeen is number 4, not IU

Date: 2017-05-11 04:03 am (UTC)Not a big fan of Hyunbin (I am for Sorry Sorry Team 2 and Nuest though) but I think people overreact on his 'laziness' lol
But yeah, maybe Hyunbin falls so Nuest can rise.

Date: 2017-05-10 10:06 pm (UTC)This is great, but will it translate over to them selling albums? Because this means nothing if they don't have a hit single out.

Considering that Twice and Vixx are before them (1st rank, respectively 3rd and 4th), they might have sold quite a lot.
If someone can give me the links to the daily/weekly album charts of Melon, Gaon etc etc, I can tell you guys more info. (I'm a bit busy with work to look for them by myself lolz)

Date: 2017-05-11 06:22 pm (UTC)For example, Seventeen sold ~5k of Going Seventeen last month I think or the month prior to that, ~1000 of Love&letter, ~1000 of the Love&Letter repack, 600 Boys Be and 500 17Carat. That's 8.1k in a month. They aren't even promoting but their sales show they are gaining a fair amount of new fans anyway. There are a quite a few groups that sell more than 2k a month because of that. In order for Nuest to really show that they are getting great results, by the end of the month they need to have sold at least 5k (more really because 5k is already pretty low). 1k isn't bad but they have a long way to go especially with the amount of releases they have out already.

Date: 2017-05-12 09:01 am (UTC)also, their albums are sold out or almost sold out from the distribution channels (considering Pledis gave up on Nu'Est, I don't think they invested that much in making lots of copies) so Pledis needs to issue more albums which I think it will take some days, no? I'm not that sure how everything works.
it's a bit unfair to compare them to SVT which is a newer group with fresh, cute songs that a lot of people like. And they have 13 members which eventually each member brings more fans. Also, maybe, just maybe, Pledis has learned from Nu'est initial failure and they manage SVT better. I love both groups so I want them both to succeed. :D
Anyway, we have to wait a bit more to see how everything will turn up in the end.
The thing is: Pledis needs to work harder for their groups and promote them better.

Date: 2017-05-12 06:14 pm (UTC)i don't see pledis issuing more albums because it's too risky and it wont give them enough profit. nuest is already in so much debt (they said so themselves), selling a couple thousand copies won't do anything.
idk if it's fair or not but what i know is that produce 101 is insanely popular and it makes all kinds of people know u. mnet has highlighted that they are members from nu'est and there have been articles about it too. thats why im saying like.. after getting all this recognition i would expect a couple thousand sales by the end of the month to show that the group is gaining a lot of fans. or what could also happen is that they gain a lot of akgae fans (like sejeong & kangmina) and i guess it would be hard to see results til they released something new.
having 5 members or 13 members doesn't change anything because there's a lot of groups with more than 10 members who do rly bad. svt doesn't do well bc they have many members, they do well bc they worked hard. it had nothing to do w/ pledis either. pledis did svt dirtier than they did nuest because if u look back at adore u era... it was bad :/ they got no promo at all and u know their stream pre-debut was watched by less than 200 people >< yet somehow during adore u & boys be they gained a LOT of fans. what nuest need to finally realize, which im guessing maybe they do now.. is that they need to take matters into their own hands. that's why seventeen succeeded.
normally in these kind of shows, companies pay for screentime or for a spot in the ranking. idk if pledis paid... a part of me thinks so because thats how it works but another part of me doesnt believe it bc pledisboss seems to not give a shit lol. but if they decided themselves to join this show, it was rly smart of them, a good realization of the position they were in and a step in the right direction.

Baekho and JR especially have come thru with presenting NU'EST in a better light I think - Baekho's manliness, protecting his son Guanlin and JR's new title Nation's Leader lol
god I love JR
