BRODUCE 98: Kwon Hyun Bin deletes all photos on instagram after recent backlash

YGKPLUS trainee Kwon Hyun Bin has deleted all the photos from his Instagram account following backlash from his appearance on “Produce 101 Season 2.”

During the episode that aired on April 28, Kwon Hyun Bin was shown alongside other trainees as they rehearsed Super Junior’s “Sorry Sorry” for the group battle competition.

On this day, many viewers were turned off by what they saw as an insincere attitude from Kwon Hyun Bin as he didn’t take the time to properly learn the choreography.

The trainer who came in to check up on Group 2 told Kwon Hyun Bin off for his lack of preparation, but Pledis’s Kim Jong Hyun came to his defense, blaming himself and saying, “I think it’s because I didn’t do my job as the leader of this group properly."

Even after this, Kwon Hyun Bin would inconvenience his team by often disappearing during rehearsals, saying that he’s someone who needs a lot of sleep.

On the day of the performance, Group 2 pulled off a perfect performance and the team members, excluding Kwon Hyun Bin, were praised and told that they could debut immediately.

Despite his attitude, Kwon Hyun Bin received the most votes (142 votes) on his team and he received heat from what many saw as insincere statements like, “I’m here because I really want to debut as a singer,” and “I’ve put everything on the line for this.”



The criticism carried over to his personal Instagram account, and the trainee deleted all of his photos after they were flooded with comments.

Oh so he's the one who looks like Jooheon from Monsta X! When I was watching the perfs and during Team 2's Sorry Sorry, I was like wait a minute, why is that Monsta X guy in this, didn't he already debut and his group is pretty successful?

I love Jonghyun to bits and pieces - he's been my bias from NU'EST ever since Pledis teased their debut. The fact that he has so much patience and faith in his team members is no joke. That said, I'm glad netizens are praising Jonghyun and calling him the nation's leader, ha. Maybe that'll get him to Top 11 (one can hope, haha).

Also, wasn't this episode filmed way before S2 began? So Hyunbin had a good number of fans already and a good number who just voted for him because. He'll drop in rankings, though and honestly, because of Mnet's editing, you can't tell whether or not he was like this throughout the practice until day of performance. That doesn't excuse him for leaving practice, but we won't know whether he worked even harder. And I think by performance day, the group became much closer, which is a good thing.

And, despite his attitude, what netizens are doing is not acceptable.

it's interesting that they chose this storyline out of all storylines for justice league team, which makes me think that they know hyunbin attracts viewers but they don't want him in final 11. not sure why he got so many votes in the live perf (some people were saying that he was super charismatic and maybe that doesn't carry across in video??), but yeah, this doesn't warrant that much hate :-/ problem is that the editing makes it look like he falls exactly into what knetizens hate, i.e. only goodlooking, not hardworking, seemingly arrogant and self-centered, ungrateful, etc. i wouldn't mind is he fell in the rankings a bit, but i hope he doesn't take this too harshly. despite the editing, justice league looked pretty close from the cuts we got of them giggling together and whatnot

but tbh, mnet is gonna have to make a push in editing now if they want to change the top 11. like many people pointed out, it's a lot of visuals and not so much (proven) talent yet. we'll see where rankings are in ep 4, but i bet mnet is only going to get more biased with their editing

The thing is you don't actually need that much talent in a boy group... with a group this size you need like 2 really good vocals and then some decent ones which the higher ranked top 11 can pull off. Most of the F's in top 11 haven't been training very long so hopefully they can catch up at least in the dance department. I guess I'll have to keep watching to see.

Still got my fingers crossed for him to make it into the final group. It needs a leader after all and he's the one showing those skills.

Same. This show has just proved what a good choice I made in making JR my NU'EST bias back in 2012. Also so proud at his new "nation's leader" title lol, his leadership skills regarding this issue were actually kinda amazing. I saw some clips on youtube, he actively scolded Hyunbin for slacking off and leaving while still encouraging him at the same time

It ends up like that when you push into the idol show people who have no basic abilities to be an idol and then expect a team of contenders to take group responsibility in a solo competition. It was truly fcked up when that dance trainer went on Jonghyun during review session, it's not like guy can enter the other body and forcibly make him get better, leader or not.

The trainer said at one point hyunbin started working really hard. So probably after that talk he finally got motivated? He probably isn't used to dance practices like these. As for getting a lot of votes I don't know. Ask the people that voted for him.

Anyways, not a fan of his attitude in some scenes but I'm not going to go out of my way to find his instagram and post negative comments.

You forget how Ong said "what did Hyunbin do that deserved the 142 votes"... which honestly I agree with after watching their group video and fancams. I think the audience at that time was severely affected by the initial popularity from those intro eye contact videos, which is actually weird to me because they would have only just seen these trainees and for me it's not enough attachment to vote for popularity instead of talent....

Also I don't understand the arguments of how this evil editing will prevent him getting into final 11... I don't think he was going to anyways? But this edit just gave him even more screentime... who knows maybe it was to show JR in a good light

watching the trainers lecture jr about hyunbin not knowing the chore just broke my heart. hyunbin really isn't cut out to be an idol. poor guy didn't deserve all this hate tho. i low-key wish minhyun chose someone else than hyunbin because jr was obviously struggling w disciplining hyubin. all i want is for jr to be in he top11.
