lol this is the third version of Operation Love we will be seeing.

The popularity is like Hana Yori Dango and Hana Kimi. I have yet to see Yoo Seungho version. I wonder whether it is better than the Japanese version.

Yes, there's Korean version starring Yoo Seungho and Park Eunbin. This 2 has many works together before starring in this drama.

Used to be Yamapi's fangirl? I wonder what made you stop lol

About whether it is well received, cant really say since it was aired in cable TV. And plus, not many people know about the existence of it. But the lead actor is a talented and solid actor so it should not be too bad I guess. I havent watch it yet so I cant comment.

Ohh you outgrew him. I always thought he was a mediocre actor but he proved me wrong with time. Every projects that he pick up somehow very watchable and interesting. I'm a big fan of Arashi but I cant really bring myself to watch something from Aiba or Jun. But Yamapi's dramas always above average to excellent in general. And I love that he likes to take different roles and take risks -- it made him improve even more as an actor. His works are very colorful in general so he always make his fans come back to him every now and then somehow.

I haven't been following his recent works but yes I really like his earlier dramas. Dragon zakura and nobuta wo produce are still some of my favorite ever dramas! I get what you mean about how he doesn't seem like he acts well... but yes the projects he gets a lot of them turn into classics! Like this operation love, I hear it strikes a chord with many Asian males and prob why it's getting remade again and again. So are you still a fan of arashi?

Nobuta wo Produce & Dragon Zakura are among my all time favourite too! Such an excellent drama from every angle. I like on how both dramas are not pretentious about life like what Kdrama love to do when they touch about the same subject. I didnt say he was terrible because he is not (even during his earlier works :P) but just mediocre as an actor hehe. But like I said, that perception change with time. I love how he played all his characters differently. He works hard to be a better actor so I have to give him that. I think the only dramas of his that I watched but do not like is Buzzer Beat. The rest of his works are pretty solid. He's good in picking good projects thats for sure. :D About my statement with Aiba & Jun, I cant watch their drama not because they are bad as an actor but their dramas didnt seemed interesting haha.

With Arashi, I guess other fans will agree with it too -- 'Once a fan, will always be a fan'. The guys are great & humble and their chemistry are out of this world. They are hilarious to the core so I will always be a fan. My sister will know that I'm watching Arashi stuffs if she sees me I'm laughing non-stop. I love their music too and they always sing encouragement songs so thats a plus! :))

i have yet to see the japanese version but i don't think the korean version is better. they used the 16 episode format like usual for the korean one, & i think the japanese 11 episode format is better in that story.
because it dragged on too much with the main character insisting that he loved the girl so much but continually hesitating. by the end i wasn't even convinced he deserved to get the girl for all his indecision lmao

You got the check out the Japanese version as like you said, having 11 episode make the plot more tight and less draggy. Thats why I sometimes prefer watching Jdramas more since the plot usually more interesting and stronger as a whole.

Even in the Japanese version, the main guy is hesitating so much. I guess thats the gist of the storyline in all the versions (even in this Chinese version as can be seen in the trailer). We all know the girl is in love with him too but the way he is hesitating and lack or courage is frustrating to watch.

i'll have to watch the japanese version then! it's definitely the main point, & in the beginning i didn't mind so much because it's obvious that he's clueless & is also learning the "rules" of the time jumps but tighter plot sounds MUCH better.

I really love the Japanese version. I consider it one of the classic Jdramas. The writing was tight and strong and everyone was lovely and likable and it was funny as well.

Can I know how they end up the Korean version? Did the guy finally confess it on her wedding day? If it is, what happened after that? I personally thought the ending was really brilliant for the Japanese version. But some fans do not know how to appreciate the layered ending which is a shame. :(

sorry for the late response!

so i dunno if the japanese one pulled this but the korean one went super makjang & had the lead guy almost die & then he lost his memory... but ONLY the memory of the girl LOL none of their other friends?? he doesn't go to the wedding & they play a video that he pre-recorded of him confessing to her. then of course she doesn't get married & she basically follows HIM around until he remembers her too.

it was not very satisfying at all!!!

OMG, that is super makjang! I'm in tears when I read your comment ahahahaha. Oh God, I wonder why some of Korean writers love the makjang road so much. Japanese seemed to keep their drama short but tight so you cant really complain about them since the aspect of realism has always one of the main theme while Koreans love to over dragged their plot to the point of ridiculousness (noble idiocy/amnesia/long lost brother or sister/etc).

Have you watched the Korean version of Flowers for Algernon (Hello God)? I remember loving the drama so much that I kinda watch it twice but then when the Japanese version came out, I was really blown away with the script and plot. It puzzled me while the Korean version has 16 episodes (1 hour each per episode), the Japanese version has only 10 episodes (each episode around 40min++) but the story is more complex & thought-provoking with more side characters and side stories.

The Korean one wasn't as memorable for me :/ it had better acting but I liked the pacing of the original.

I always prefer Japanese version more in all of the Korean remakes tbh. Even Japanese remake of kdrama The Devil is 100% more awesome than the original which is very boring. :(

But there's some exception where the Korean version managed to be on par. Master of Study which is a remake of Dragon Zakura wasn't draggy and very interesting. Of course, I still prefer the Japanese version but it wasn't disappointing at all as a whole. And I realized that its another Yoo Seungho's role where he is playing Yamapi's original role. This made me wish there will be a Code Blue Korean version lol.

The music is making me nostalgic :) remakes are tricky for me to really be engaged in because they are more predictable. I loved the jp one, and I really connected to that feeling of regret and wanting to change yourself into a stronger person, but I barely remember what the Korean one was like.

Will "Unexpected Love" every come out or is it perm. shelved because of K-dawg?

Congrats Lay on succeeding and winning awards. I hope he puts out another song like Monodrama (because that's the only song of his I really liked on the first listen and is my style)

Urm all I have to contribute to this post.

His hair has grown out. Doesn't it bother him when it hits the eyes like that all the time? But I'm not mad because that means he can wear manbuns now <3
