BRODUCE 100 to be BRODUCE 99 as another contestant is revealed to have left before first broadcast

It has been belatedly revealed that Choon Entertainment’s trainee Kim Si Hyun has left “Produce 101 Season 2.”

On March 23, a source from Choon Entertainment stated, “Trainee Kim Si Hyun decided to leave ‘Produce 101 Season 2’ due to health concerns. We have finalized discussions with the production staff of the show.”

Kim Si Hyun left the show the day before the filming of the group performance for “It’s Me (Pick Me)” on “M!Countdown.”

Furthermore, as contestant Han Jong Yeon also left the program earlier on due to his controversial past, “Produce 101 Season 2” is actually starting off with 99 contestants instead of the original 101 trainees.

On March 23, contestant Nam Yoon Sung’s management agency, I.ONE Entertainment, stated, “Nam Yoon Sung will be leaving ‘Produce 101 Season 2’ due to health concerns that arose at his last health checkup.”

The statement continued, “Furthermore, due to these health concerns, Nam Yoon Sung was unable to participate in the filming of the performance for ‘M!Countdown.’ We told the production staff on March 22 that he would be leaving the show.”

Nam Yoon Sung is the third trainee to leave Mnet’s “Produce 101 Season 2,” as trainee Han Jong Yeon left the show due to his controversial past and trainee Kim Si Hyun left the show due to health concerns.

If he was already having health issues, it's probably the best thing that he left; those issues would have most likely worsened considering the disgusting working conditions for the contestants.

considering "working" conditions you really need to have amazing health to pull through (and i'm pretty sure even that amazing health will be messed up by final ep)

Health always comes first - if the boy is not physically fit, he's not going to get better with all the stuff they have to do to prepare for the show. I'm sure it sucks for him, but dropping out is the wise decision here.

Anyway, while I'm most certainly not under the illusion that the contestants are being treated like kings, Mnet is likely exaggerating the whole caste system thing in an attempt to create more ~drama~ for the show. We don't really know how much the boys get to eat, or how long they have to wait to use the toilet, unless we actually get to see what they're doing 24/7. Not that it really excuses anything, since this kind of media play is still ugly, but yeah, I'm trying to imagine them yelling at the Group F trainees and telling them to hold in their pee while everyone else goes first, and it's such a ridiculous mental image lol. I don't think Mnet is actually serious about this, or at the very least, not the toilet part.

I definitely think their first elimination process is unfair, though. If the reports are true, that means nearly half of the trainees will be eliminated before the show even starts, which means a lot of dreams will be shattered waaaay too early. Like, they won't even get to appear on TV?! I did not watch the first season, but I believe the girls were evaluated under less ridiculous circumstances? Not sure why things have to change this time round.

I did not expect myself to show any form of interest in Broduce 101, but after watching the MV and some introduction videos out of curiosity, I think I am at least semi-invested. And I can't get the song out of my head. ONEUL BAM JUINGONGEUN NAYA NA! NAYA NA!

I will be keeping an eye on Park Sungwoo aka Tiptoe Guy, Justin, Takada Kenta, Zhu Zhengting, Ahn Hyeongseop, Bae Jinyoung, and some others. Han Jongyeon was imo one of the best-looking ones and had a lot of stage presence in the MV, so I was ready to root for him......until he turned out to be a bully, so yeah smh. Boy basically ruined things for himself - what a waste. And he was in Group A, too.

I mean, I WANT to believe it's just exaggerated for media play and it's certainly possible, but considering some of the horrifying things I've heard about trainee life (remember that company that forced their male trainees to sexually assault the female trainees back in like, 2011?) I wouldn't put it past anyone for a second LOL the industry is really fucked up and rookies are not respected at all.

Yeah, I understand why people do not want to be optimistic. I really do hope at least the toilet thing isn't like what the reports say, though, because...it's just so, so stupid lol. Makes it hard for me to believe they're for real. When you need to go, you NEED to go. Poor boys don't need to go through bladder training.

Anyway I came back to this post to say Mnet better not make the members of Nu'est perform Mansae because that's just...not good in many ways. But who am I kidding -- they're probably going to do exactly that :/
