YG Entertainment Updates Fans On BLACKPINK’s Spring Plans

BLACKPINK is heading to college this spring!

On March 14, a source from YG Entertainment confirmed that the girls will be performing at a number of university festivals in Seoul in May. BLACKPINK will be performing at an outdoor festival for the first time since their debut, a decision made in part to begin promotions for their spring comeback.

Their immense popularity put BLACKPINK in pretty high demand with Korean universities, who traditionally invite popular K-pop acts to perform at their annual college festivals. And while YG Entertainment previously had the group focus on preparing new music, they’ve decided to give back to fans by attending local universities by agreeing to have the girls perform.

I was going to read this, laugh and leave without commenting but if they're actually getting activites good for them! Especially since YG doesn't really let his artists do activities like university festivals, iirc? I don't know if I believe they'll have new material to perform but I'm excited for them, I know the girls want more things to do.

from what i recall 2ne1 did a lot of university festivals back in the day, it's just boy groups that don't do them (but maybe they're not in demand as ggs)

Blackpink did pretty well if I remember correctly? They don't have a physical album I don't think so that probably hurts them, but I'm pretty sure they were top of the charts with most if not all of their four releases.

That's good to hear. I'm a bad fan so I haven't been following up on them lol. They won awards but their criticism has always been mixed so I never know if they've actually "made it" or not haha

They're the 2ne1 replacement on YG, so they're gonna face criticism unfairly for their entire career. They're successful though, as most YG artists are, and it's just a matter of when YG decides to forget about them, and when YG decides to let them have more than just old 2ne1 songs that never were put out because that's what their music sounds like right now.

They're doing well though, they have good choreo which we don't get out of YG groups almost ever, they debuted with a rapper who would also sing which is nice, a main singer who sings with better technique so we don't have to worry about her blowing up her vocal cords in like four years, and they still filled the category of mostly useless member who's pretty and has charms. It's a pretty solid group, that currently is facing an unfair fight, while still also fighting their own label who has decided they are the "pretty 2ne1" so they have awful diets and I hate YG on a personal level for it.
