Synopsis: Do Bong Soon is a young woman born with superhuman strength, who breaks everything she touches if she's not careful. However, she desperately wants to become a willowy and elegant woman, which is the ideal type of her crush In Gook Du. Thanks to her strength, she gets the job of a bodyguard, to a spoiled rich heir An Min Hyuk, the boss of a gaming company. One day, Bong Soon, Gook Du and Min Hyuk gets caught up in a serial murder case that breaks in their neighborhood, and end up reluctantly living together for security purposes.

I like Ji Soo, but I found it funny when everyone was complaining he was a second lead again, because he's honestly not that great of an actor and if he was playing the lead would be swallowed by Park Bo Young on screen. She might be small, but she has a lot of screen presence.

Loving this show! I don't know why everyone was hating on the mom in the last post, she's hilarious!

Jisoo is still a bit of the weak link. I know he's suppposed to be ~tsundere~ but seems kinda overly robotic.

I want Park Hyungsik's wardrobe in this soooo much. He's so gorgeous. I really want Do Bong Soon to end up with him and not Gook Du. Gook Du should dump his gf though. She knows what she's doing. I can't blame her for trying to upgrade to a doctor given how Gook Du seems to put their relationship second to his work but still. Don't lie to him, sullen wench!

Pretty sure the brother isn't the killer. I don't really like that storyline, but I wonder if it ties in to all the other shenanigans. She should have her teenage underlings patrol the area to suss out that killer!

Love the mafia boss buy trying to eat that Walnut pie loll. The bad guys seem kinda inept and a good source of humour which I like, cuz I want this show to keep things light.

Also, I totally think the person with the death threats is the "nice" brother, or is that too obvious?

One thing I don't really like is when Do Bong Soon seems to refer to Park Hyungsik's character as like "degenerate" or "perverted" and that seems to be based on her belief that he's gay/bi? I really hope he's bi, but I think they're gonna make it like he just jokes like that to make people awkward around him?

I wish I caught onto this show late tbh, because it's something that'd be perfect to binge.

I'm tired of the gay jokes and the way Minhyuk's sexuality is being discussed almost constantly.. and I feel like I'll be especially pissed if it turns out that he's actually completely straight and everything has just been "for the lolz". :( I mean, I know it's a kdrama and that it's really unlikely that he will be gay, but it's getting more and more annoying to watch them just joke and not really talk about it. I'm also not really feeling any romantic chemistry between the two leads. I guess it's still early, but they played a few romantic songs at some "moments" and it just felt kinda forced to me.

Also the pacing is a bit weird, I'm starting to feel the whiplash from when they give us fun scenes and then shift to the serious procedural / creepy murderer ones. I can't imagine seeing Bong Soon comdically defeat rubber face. It just feels like two diff shows rn.

Beyond those complaints though, I still really do enjoy the comedic parts of the show. I like the scenes with the mob at the hospital, and the ones of the big boss following Bong Soon around. I liked that sweet scene between Bong Soon and her dad, he kind of reminds me of my own dad. It was cute. And I'm glad we got to meet Minhyuk's awful family. His "helpful" brother is totally the one out to get him.

Lastly, HOW DARE GOOK DU'S GF EMOTIONALLY CHEAT ON HIM!!! 😒🔪

Lol you're comment and mine above re: the gay thing. I totally think it's gonna be played off for the lolz ughh. I just want him to be bi. I just want there to be some universe where Park Hyungsik is into guys so I can win him over (prob after I debut with NamTae!).

I agree there's some tonal issues. It'd be fine if the bad guy was the funny mob boss and there's the issues with the re-devleopment, along with whoever's targeting Park Hyungsik of course. Between the guy trying to kill Hyungsik, the mafia boss guy and the killer, there's like 3 baddies and it might be too much.

And yass we both called out Gook Du's GF for Emotionally cheating AND both think the nice brother is the guilty one. You must be thrilled you have so much in common with Trump Oppa!

This show is such a breath of fresh air, even with the darker elements its never feels too heavy and is always fun. I'm loving the incompetent gangsters and Bongsoon's choding mafia.PLUS THAT WHITNEY HOUSTON BGM SCENE OF HER CARRYING MIN HYUK I WAS DYING

Re: the murderer, I'm 99% certain it's the witness who's fiance was kidnapped from the hospital. And I think nice brother is the one behind the threats, the others are upfront about their dislike for him.

I haven't watched episode 4 yet but I need to take a break because Bong Soon was kind of irritating in the 3rd one. It's a good thing Min Hyuk is officially a ~quirky weirdo~ with his own reasons for doing things because idk why anyone would be okay with an employee like her, but then again he did basically beg her to be his bodyguard so he did this to himself. I feel like it's partly a tone thing – they show her rolling her eyes at him every 5 seconds because it's supposed to be funny but it just annoys me.

hyungsik is so cute in this i'm dying, and all his scenes are just amazing

i'm a bit sus about the jokes with minhyuk being gay/bi, but...i really hope they're not just doing it for making fun of gay/bi people?? idk if i'm overthinking things but some of those ~jokes~ seem a bit suspicious to me

other than that, i'm quiet interested in the kidnapping/bride storyline and the threats minhyuk is getting (i think it's either the middle brother or maybe two of the brothers - not sure which two - working together)

I love Park Bo Young, Jisoo and PHS so I was super excited for this show but it has been disappointing so far. Maybe its because they can't stick to 1 genre... are they romantic comedy or mystery thriller? I agree with some people, they need to just solve the murder cases already or maybe do a case every now and then. The main character is not that likable and its very 1 dimensional. PBY tries to give her more emotions but its hard when its written like a cardboard super hero who has crazy strength but crushing on her childhood best friend. Is there anything else about her that defines who she is? Same with the main guy. I love the actor in High Society, but right now he is just this immature CEO who has too much money and not enough motivation to do anything else. Ji Soo is hot and fits ok in the role, but again, very 1 dimensional. All he cares about is following the rules, even some misogynistic ones.

I am hoping for the show to evolve and pick up the pace in the writing and directing, because I feel like the 3 leads are just wasted. I have found myself forwarding some scenes because it just extends too long.

This has been making me laugh almost every episode. I can't say I care for the whole murder mystery part but it's growing on me.

I wonder if she really is having trouble controlling her strength because she doesn't use it that much?

Tbh, I'm just going to pretend he's bi with the way he acts though but I will heavy sideeye if they play it off as a joke/make fun of it.

I couldnt stand Jisoo's character acting like he can just tell female lead to leave boss' house, then telling her she should call her mother for permission to stay the night out (!) and proceeding to do it by himself all while she's a grown ass woman?

Generally that police guy is hella irritaiting thick skull case and I guess playing him the robotic style is good idea, but the way Jisoo's doing it is cringey, boy doesn't have those chops to pull it and his ver of robotic looks like done bc he can't do it other way not bc it was planned. And that's prob true lol, like Jisoo's cute, but wooden, he can eventualy does those allegedly tough, but deeply hurt boys and there his range ends.

PHS character is not flawless, but still better. You can tell how much he's pissing himself when he gays things up a little and everybody around is scared and offended. I like that he's not the no homo type with fragile masculinity, but it's kdrama so it's not like they gonna follow that anyway.

I don't like the way jisoo is portraying his character here either. He's always frowning and so shoutey. It could be a writing issue, but I partly feel it's his portrayal as well. I think he has limited range and mostly little nuance in his acting. He either does really boyish/happy or really angsty/sad well. Those don't require much nuances. I kind of don't like the way GD treats BS either. Like why so controlling?

Overall, I like it. It's fun and entertaining and the murder plot is interesting.

But they gay and the "how can a woman be so strong/how can you lose to a woman" jokes are annoying and pointless. I also don't like the mother, she's not as bad as in episodes 1-2 but still. And I think that Gook Du is really flat character, like it would be more interesting if he had more character traits than being the idealistic/rule following cop.

I caught up with all 4 episodes today, right on time, lol!
I have to say i'm not enjoying myself that much.

First of all, i knew the gay/bi thing would irritate me, it's a k-drama after all, and i should know better than expect it to be treated with any tact.
Second, i'm not feeling the writing of the 3 main characters, they all seem too one-note, i guess? But it's only episode 4, maybe things will get better on that front.
Sometimes i feel like i'm watching two different shows, the comedic parts and the murder plotline feel so different to each other.

Idk i find myself more invested in random things than the main leads or the main plot line, lmao! Like, i love the little scenes with DBS and her dad and her friend, or her newfound teenage delinquent followers, and for some reason the brother and Gook Du's gf!

I basically decided to watch this because i'm Jisoo trash, so at the very least i hope he gets to be more involved with everything.

- gang leader and jaws spying on bong soon
- bong soon being the unofficial hs gang leader
- minhyuk's scene in the bathroom where he was all "she's so cute...and sexy"
- every time that super power girl song plays

the bad:

- too many dragged out scenes, especially the hospital ones!!!
- gook du's gf
- the annoying is he or is he not gay speculation
- the editing seems real choppy or basically there's not much continuation? what was up with the ending of ep 3 which wasn't addressed at all in the next episode

generally it's still a pretty fun drama but i feel like it's taking on too much

I haven't watched ep 4 but i just realized in ep 3 that the editing is very choppy. Either that or the writing/pacing is terrible. I love all the hillarious bits between the leads, and the mafias, also pby and phs totally nailed their characters. But there's basically nearly zero progress, plot-wise, during ep 3. I mean i know there are lots of eps left but i hate unnecessary draggy plots. I hope the pacing gets better because otherwise watching them circling around too many unrelated(?) murder cases would be a pain and i really want to love this drama.

I'm still raving this show even though the editing seems kind of choppy comparing to the first 2 episodes and the plot moves so slow this week. I thought she was going to do something or at least report to the police that she heard someone screaming after ep 3 ending but nah. I know she had never been a bodyguard before, but when your boss is the one who had to drag you to safety you know you did a crappy job of protecting him XD

Hyungsik is making me a stan tbh. He's a scene stealer although he's only a supporting role in that-drama-that-should-not-be-mentioned, he made me continue watching Hwarang, and now as Ahn Minhyuk he's just so capable of conveying his emotions (especially with those eyes *swoon). I love how they tell us his back story and how lonely he was (minhyuk, are you sammaekjong's reincarnation? lol). That scene when he was alone in his closet after being shot is breaking my heart.

Also, that time when he thwacked his elbow while getting down inside the sleeping bag and the cute noises he made, was it scripted or not? I replayed that scene too much I embarrassed myself. I get annoyed when he whined to Bongsoon to make him food though. I get a mixed feeling whenever his sexuality is brought up. On one side, I am annoyed because it seems like people use his sexuality on how he would react/do, but it seems like the rumor is not true and he's just dgaf to clarify it because in his eyes, it shouldn't matter.

I laughed my ass off when Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You was playing, and when she dumped him in the car and his head hit the door lmao. Those high school thugs calling her Noonim also gave me a good laugh. I hope she'll make them help making the neighborhood safe again.

i think episode 4 had some more serious moments, mostly from minhyuk, and it makes me hopeful that i'll like this show more because it delved into the characters and their stories (and tbh the mystery, i like the ultra creepy vibe from flesh mask man), not as ~caricatures~ or a cutout of something, but as people who i've felt a connection to. I like the humor, definitely but this does have potential to be "deeper," haha.

PBY doing anything is too cute, when Ji Soo yelled at her in the hospital (for like the endlessth time) and she looked like puss in boots abt to cry, I just wanted to hug her!

PHS also does a good job and made me believe that he can fall for her this fast. I mean he's pretty much saying what we all think "so cute I could die"

I was abit surprised honestly when Hyungsik was cast beside Park Bo Young initially. I was abit afraid she would totally overpower him in their scenes tog but I'm glad that's not the case at all! He is actually the best part of the show for me right now and I love how he naturally portrays MH's quirkiness. MH also seems like a better written character compared to BS and GD.

I'm also loving the two thugs - the boss and his assistant, it's like watching Dumb and Dumber pretending to be evil and cool but failing massively loll

Though i really hope the show improves on its editing and writing. The scenes are very choppy and some of the times I've been left wondering what the scene I'm watching has to do with the previous one. Also hoping the writing can be tightened abit. There are too many subplots going on atm and some of these need to be finished up/tied up and dropped and others need to be progressed more smoothly. We are already a quarter of our way through the 16 eps and not much has happened.

Also, I actually would have very much preferred if the crime plot didn't happen at all. I initially thought it would be a light one but no, this one is pretty dark and quite unnerving. But I suspect it was written in to give BS's character something to do later on.

Basically reiterating what everyone else has said - the 2 leads are definitely the highlight of the drama for me, especially Hyungsik's portrayal of Minhyuk. The subtleties when he saw the breakfast Bong Soon cooked for him when he was definitely moved but not crying, and the way he sometimes just switches on a different mode of Minhyuk's personality when he wants to get a rise out of Bong Soon are just so good.

I really wish this drama would stop having people being gay as the punchline for their jokes tho. I thought Bong Soon was handling the situation really well eps 1-2 but this week's eps she came across as lowkey homophobic. And really hoping they'll reveal Minhyuk is bi or pan or something bc this queerbaiting is not great either..
