Nam Joo Hyuk, Shin Se Kyung, And More Confirmed For Upcoming tvN Fantasy Romance Drama

tvN’s upcoming drama “Bride of the Water God 2017” (tentative title) has secured its official cast!

On February 23, a source from tvN stated, “Nam Joo Hyuk, Shin Se Kyung, Gong Myung, and Krystal have been confirmed. The table reading will be happening later on.”

tvN’s upcoming drama is set to be a modern-day adaptation of the Korean fantasy manhwa “Bride of the Water God.” Nam Joo Hyuk will be playing the role of Habaek the water god, Shin Se Kyung will be playing Soah, Gong Myung will be starring as Biryeom the wind god, and Krystal will be playing Hera (known as Mura in the manhwa).

Meanwhile, tvN’s “Bride of the Water God 2017” will be headed by PD Kim Byung Soo, who directed tvN’s “Nine,” and writer Jung Yoon Jung of “Incomplete Life.”

This cast seems a bit...weak lol. Krystal especially is such a weak actor, I still can't believe I watched her drama with Rain lol

I love Nam Joo Hyung obv and Shin Se Kyung and I want them both to succeed in life but idk. I gotta keep expectations low and see :/

I think it's interesting tho that NJH was probably confirmed from the start but he kept dragging the official confirmation. I thought he might have been testing the waters to see what people's responses would be, but it's not like they were positive but he took it anyway. I mean I want him to prove me wrong too....

Yeah, I wondered if it was because he really wanted some time off and therefore did not want to confirm anything because of his break, or if he signed on before his break on the terms that they kept it unofficial until after his birthday? (Although the fact that yesterday was his birthday might not have anything to do with it..).
Maybe they just wanted all the four "mains" confirmed before announcing it since they're going to pre-produce it? Idk..

Also Habaek mostly appears as a kid so I'm guessing Nam Joo Hyuk will actually be playing Mui? Will he only appear at night?

I love Krystal but I doubt she can be a good Mura

I haven't read the manhwa so I can't be the judge, but the plot seems so messy I'm not sure if it can be saved at all.
Also, no one wants another Scarlet Heart..

And although I like the actors separately, I don't think they're necessarily strong enough to carry this project.

The manhwa itself is quite complicated
I had to stop cause it's no longer published where I live

But for the drama to remotely follow the manhwa they'd need to cast two actors for Habaek: an adult and a child because
Habaek, the water god, is cursed. He's a kid by day and take his real form by night

Hmmm, interesting. I feel like I can trust the writer and PD team.
I think Nam Joo Hyuk is still green but improving, so I wonder...I'll pray he does well.
I love Shin Se Kyung but I'm also aware of her flaws too.

We'll just see how it goes.

haven't read the manhwa and i loved nam joohyuk in wfkbj and gong myung in drinking solo. i also like fantasy series and mythology stuff. basically i'm liking what they're offering separately so i have pretty high hopes for this

Hmmm. I've not read the manhwa but from what I've heard about it, I'm very curious how they'll end up adapting it and moving it to the current day.
I can see NJH and SSK as a couple a lot more than him and Moon Chae Won. I think SSK has improved greatly the last few years, I liked her a lot in The Girl Who Sees Smells. I love NJH but mostly when he's playing adorable characters like in CITT and WFKBJ, so we'll see how he does in this one. I liked Gong Myung in Drinking Solo but haven't seen him in anything else. Wary about Krystal. I'll probably watch unless the previews look terrible.

RIGHT?! but I think it was her decision to not accept, esp considering that the role is still with someone from namoo. like she didn't want to do and her agency was the one suggesting another actress or something.

for now I'll believe it's the world making its round to confirm her and lee junki for criminal minds remake lol that's a pairing I wanna see.
