I met Rebecca Sugar and Ian Jones Quartley at a party last october and I had a great conversation with Rebecca about Why So Lonely and her choice to use Sunmi's Full Moon as a reference for the Sardonyx dance. Wonderful people. I imagine since the staff travel to Seoul so much for the show that there's quite a few staff members who have discovered the joy of Korean idol music.

steven universe means so much to me as a show and i love it so much, and to see rebecca sugar draw 2ne1 makes me kind of emotional because even NON-KOREANS see how important they were that they put them in a very iconic cartoon .. i miss them so much (i listened to reboot this morning and realization set in so hard)

Just a minor correction that it wasn't Rebecca who drew this but one of the background artists Jane Bak (who I'm guessing is Korean) haha but yes SU is awesome and I love how the crew do all these shoutouts in the show or promo/side art, this 2ne1 appreciation is definitely nice :')
