CL really is “The Baddest Female.”

The K-pop star is in hot (digital) water after sharing a controversial photo of herself posing in a Japanese taxi cab while in Tokyo, a picture that was swiftly met with outrage by some fans on Instagram.

The photo, which has since been deleted from her account but can still be seen on Allkpop.com, showed the singer’s thigh-high boots pressed against the glass divider behind her taxi driver’s head.

Many users took offense with CL’s pose, slamming it as ill-mannered behavior in a country in which everyday culture is based on social etiquette. (And to be fair, Japanese taxi cabs are notoriously clean—the drivers all wear white gloves and the doors even open automatically.)

Thankfully for CL, much of the drama seems to have dissipated in the hours since she removed the original photo.

As one fan says in the comments of the new photo below: “Please, CL… She wanted to share pics with her fans! I hope you continue to update us your fans because we miss you so much.”

pls what lay did was rude and so is this. my entire life i've been told it's disrespectful to talk to someone with my hands in my pockets and he was on stage to get an award. cl is in a stranger's car in a foreign country puttin her feet up. not saying they don't have manners and should be blown out of proportions but these things are nagl and should be more careful about

i'd actually say that neither lay nor cl have manners based on their incidents. idk if you can call it a scandal, but what they did was unacceptable by any stretch of imagination. manners are like instincts, so imo if you consciously don't adhere to them, you don't have them at all

I get in trouble at work and at wrestling practice if I have my hands in my pockets during a conversation so I'd say these are both basically the same level of disrespectful to me. I'm amused CL is higher on the list but I guess I shouldn't be /shrug.

This was real rude tho, even if her feet isn't on the window I think it's still rude to put your feet up like that in a taxi for no reason other than to be obnoxious.

Wow that hands in the pocket thing is no joke in some cultures. In the U.S.A. it'd be considered a non issue, or at worst a little too lax. But it wouldn't get attention in the media, just through some people in comments section.

i don't like cl but i will defend her right to be ratchet. this is just so rude tho. idk how it is in korea or in the west. But ppl in the service industry are so dehumanized where i'm from. ppl doing shit work for shit pay, treated by their employers and customers shittily. I was raised in the US and I would nevah put my feet up in a taxi like that and even if I did I'm pretty sure that anyone I was with would tell me to put my fucking feet down asap.
