iirc, there were physical versions for all the single albums last year and the sales were decent on gaon but they were both hard to track (because sales from yg's shop apparently don't count directly toward the chart) and they got lower with the release of every new one, lol. like the first sold around 135k by year's end and the last was about 90k.

Alive also came in six different versions. Anyhow with BB not usually doing much of fansigns and most of their fans being more of casual ones (and nowadays also in their 20s or 30s instead of in their teens) amount of versions won't probably really affect much of BB's sales numbers as those who buy physical copy will just buy one. Especially as BB won't really need to sell crazy amount of albums to win some music shows as their digitals always slay anyhow. Plus since the beginning VIPs never were into much of bulk buying unlike fans of SM groups or into showing their dedication (like only time VIPs have bothered to seriously vote is for EMA).

I know I'm just taking the piss because people don't realize how YG and SM are the same label and operate nearly the same except YG doesn't work his artists like farm equipment that never breaks down, and SM does.

But yeah I agree with the bulk buying, that's never been a YG thing period, it's more of an SM trait versus YG, YG has always been digital downloads, and concert attendance versus bulk buying albums to pump numbers. YG's physical sales in general have lost to artists from smaller labels because of that, it's just also that everyone also buys digital copies, and I think that YG realistically pushes for digital sales more.

Big Bang does lots of fan meetings and events, but not many fan signs (I think they usually do only one or two for their Korean albums. I'm not actually sure if they did any for Korean Alive). And fan meetings are different from fansigns as you can just buy ticket to a fan meeting, while for fansigns you get to right to attend by winning in a lottery among all those those who bought the album during the certain period of time in certain store/store chain. So fan meetings don't really affect that much of album sales unlike fansigns (people bulk buy like crazy in order to increase their odds of winning).
