Former K-Pop Idol Caught Smuggling Drugs Into Canada

November 24, police revealed that Cha Joo Hyuk, a former member of the K-pop group Coed School, was caught smuggling drugs.

This past August, Cha Joo Hyuk was attempting to smuggle Ketamine — a prescription anesthetic that is used as a party drug — into Canada when he was caught at the airport in Vancouver. Urine and hair tests revealed that Cha Joo Hyuk had used weed, ecstasy, and ketamine, and a small amount of drugs were found in his vehicle, as well.

He is currently not in detention, and his case will soon be forwarded to prosecutors.

Cha Joo Hyuk first debuted in 2010 as a part of the coed K-pop group Coed School. At the time, his stage name was Kangho. Shortly after debut, he was swept up in a sex crime scandal, and photos came out of him visiting an adult entertainment facility despite being a minor. A year later, he left Coed School and became an actor under the name Cha Joo Hyuk. He appeared in JTBC’s “Happy Ending” in 2012, and enlisted in the military in 2013.

His first scandal was quite a big deal already, I clearly remember people debating whether he should/would be kicked out of Coed or not. It's funny to me that some people including OP don't know who he is lol Then again this is my 10th year as a k-pop fan and I have great memory.

Wtf... I'm relieved that he never made it big, he doesn't deserve any kind of fame, why was he even able to attempt a comeback as an actor with a different name...

It was a trickle truth situation, like these scandals tend to be. First one of his high school classmates spoke up after his debut about being raped (because seeing him on her TV screen triggered her), then the photo of him hanging out in the private room of a club with friends surrounded by bottles of liquor (he was underage, and the official explanation was that they had been celebrating his high school graduation), then a few more former classmates came forward saying that he was a bully and rapist infamous throughout the entire school who had been able to avoid any sort of punishment because he had scary mob ties. Then some of the statements got retracted (pretty obvious that they had been threatened/paid off) . . .
