honest question though - how did those of you who don't have a korean background feel as you heard them speak? i ask bc as a korean, i felt pretty annoyed. i'm not sure how much of it is aegyo, and how much is their struggle with the pronunciation. it feels like they didn't let go of the 'cute way of speaking korean' act which girls generally do give up by middle school. it made them feel very, very young - much younger than other idol groups their age. i'm going to have a look and see the general korean consensus, but i'd like to know your opinions too? maybe i'm just being cruel and picky.
i died @ the very simple desires of yg fans though. 'we just want to hear them talk, that's legitimately it'.
i'll have to think about this when i watch, because i haven't paid attention to how they talk before so i'm not really sure what you mean (i'll keep an ear out), coz all i can think is that when they speak english (which has only been very scarcely so far) their voices seem to be kind of soft/cutesy but since you mentioned pronunciation that's probably not it hahaha.
edit: i just watched a little clip (i'm watching the full thing with a friend) and i guess i can hear the cutesy-ness of their korean? but i'm not sure how much of it is just nerves/awkwardness, since they always seem to be really awkward in front of cameras.
also, does jisoo do it too? or is it just the members who lived overseas? (i know lisa is thai, and rose grew up in australia but did jennie spend a lot of time in nz? i can't remember lol)
they're so adorable!!!! yeah they're a bit awkward and shy in places, but it is their first appearance on variety and i think they did really well overall~
Lisa is such a ray of sunshine and Rosé is a goofy puppy bursting with energy, I'm really into the maknae line after watching this.
Jennie seemed so nervous, poor bb <3 When they're on stage I can see why they bypassed the age "rules" and made her the leader, she's easily the most confident performer, but off-stage Jisoo's more extroverted and leader-like. Surprising group dynamics!

Why would anyone ask them to do Whistle a capella, a complete disaster XD They sounded way better doing Stay. They were obviously nervous and underprepared but I didn't find this too awkward, or their awkwardness was endearing? Or they edited it well. Anyway I had a lot of fun. Jisoo was the best part of this. It looks like Lisa has more in store, pretty sure that if they ever do BlackPinkTV, she'll have more moments. I wasn't expecting Rosé to speak with a child's voice all the time though o.o Jennie seemed a bit like that too? All of them really. It's weird how really over the top aegyo group that I follow on the side usually have one really cute member so the others drop it alltogether while the group with fierce on stage charisma seem to be aegyo irl. And them trolling YG all the time with that made up song omg XD
Not a fan of the put-on cuteness but I think they did great generally speaking, even if obviously nervous. Rose stood out to me the most this time, but Jisoo was the one I could watch for longer periods of time, if that makes sense.
Their giggly nervousness and general silliness always laughing at themselves was endearing. I hope we see more of them on variety, Jisoo in particular I can really see shining. Rose was so much fun, tbh they all managed to get some great wee comments and moments in so you know they just need more experience so they're less nervous and they'll be awesome.

Maybe it because i started in jpop where their tones are SUPER cutesy and annoying so I didn't notice it here too much. I think it's fine cause to me that just seems like how they genuinely are. Maybe they emphasized it more cause they were talking to two grown ups and not their peers? It just sucks cause I feel like girl groups get critiqued for everything. Like not even what they're saying but their tone? But I guess I wouldn't understand since I don't speak korean.

Honestly I think they did up the aeygo but I thought that from their usual singing tones Jisoo, Rose, and Jennie would have high pitched voices anyway. Especially Rose. With Lisa I think hers is mostly shyness. Maybe when they get more comfortable with variety they'll start speaking with more bass lol. I still find them adorable as hell though.
Ahhh I love them so much! I love their voices, they're so cute! It doesn't bother me at all. Some of their voices are already high pitched (Rosé/Lisa) so I think they've just picked up each other's mannerisms living together.
Lisa makes the best faces and it was so funny how Rosé kept mentioning Dony looking like her dad. That box thing was too much and that goofy song about YG LOL.
Jisoo is my queen~ I relate to her the most because I laugh at every dumb thing too. My bbs! I need that BPTV in my life.
I lost it so many times esp when they imitated yg and the trapped in the box sound.. I love how jennie is so cute but when she performs she switches to fierce mode.
i can't watch it right now but i'm really looking forward to doing it! i hope that they can get more experience with variety so they would get more comfortable. :)
