Three weeks ago, Lee Sung Kyung took to her Instagram account to share a photo of her and "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" co-star Nam Joo Hyuk, who are seemingly having an intimate time in the swimming pool.

The photo raised the curiosity of the fans, who are eager to know whether the two are seeing each other in real life. To address the matter, Nam has finally spoken up to share the story behind his photo with the "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" actress.


"That [pose] was because the water was too cold and we had to survive," the actor said as per Soompi, adding that Lee is like a sister who looks after him. Aside from that, Nam also commended the actress for her great personality.

Nam and Lee are working together in the upcoming "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo." The actor will take the role of Jung Joon Hyun, who is a gold medalist in swimming, while the actress plays the role of Kim Bok Joo, who is an athlete for weightlifting.

Catch Nam and Lee on "Weightlifting Fairy kim Bok Joo" starting Nov. 16 at 22:00 KST on MBC.

this post is so amusing for me(pretty sure it's the same for anyone who follows either of them). lsk? njh? dating? lmao
i really hope that this drama will be good and pull "miss korea" on me with gripping plot (and extremely low ratings). i have some hope only because from what was reported it's not really about jang mi ran and she was only consulting them on set. Still wish they picked different sport for lsk as protagonist since it doesn't seem like they even considered any other actress anyway.

I was really just looking for any article as an excuse to include the drama stills and this one was too funny to ignore.

LSK would probably have done a better job and be more suited for sports where her body type actually fits the ideal, like ballet or something, but now I just hope they actually do something good with the story and do not use her weight as a joke or something.. The trainer she's working with is apparently a weightlifting professional coach (?) so I guess she's doing the best she can..
Also a prayer circle that NJH's character isn't a jerk..

lmao i appreciate it tho! it's funny in a good way and lbh it would be a ride if "journalists" tried to ~expose~ them (like it happened quite a few times with her male model friends).
yeah and they have different sports included in this drama so the weightlifting angle is still throwing me off. it's just youth drama! about sports! why digging your own grave like that lol. i love lsk dearly and even with doctors it was obvious how dedicated she is to her characters but it's not much that she can do since she is naturally slim and tall so weight gain, coaching doesn't bring the kind of results that would be visible and fit weightlifting world.

I dunno if you've seen anything on instagram about her training or anything but she's put on quite a bit of weight in her lower half. Her technique is really good too, and she's very quickly learning. Also depending on if she's using KG plates or pound plates she's lifting somewhere between 135 to 155 deadlift which considering her limited amount of time doing it is pretty impressive.

I think she'll do okay, but it did seem strange that they picked her for that role, though I don't know of any actress I've seen in S.Korea that reminds me of a weight lifter.

oh really? i had no idea that they went such lengths. i only knew that there was training and coach, without any details. that's reassuring and shows that they are trying to take weightlifting seriously (or at least lsk herself does take it seriously) tho sadly i doubt that it will stop anyone from lashing out all of the casting hate on her.
