as confirmed yesterday, shinee will be coming back with a repackage of their fifth korean album on november 15th. to rehash: the album, 1and1, will feature five new (mostly ballad) tracks. the title track, which is titled "tell me what to do", is described as a trendy edm song of an "emotional" medium tempo r&b genre.

I have no idea what "a trendy edm song of an "emotional" medium tempo r&b genre" sounds like but I sure hope it's something along the lines of Symptoms or Prism or Shift or their love child. Not too EDM, I hope.

I am secretly hoping that the way they grouped them in the pictures (vocal line vs rap line kinda) means there's a song for each grouping.

Seeing how their music/concepts have developed, I don't find it too realistic either. But I will never stop hoping!

Out of purely selfish reasons related to personal taste I'm sad that SHINee musically never developed the way I was hoping they would. Lucifer was the first SHINee comeback I followed and even though I didn't really love the song, I was hoping they'd move forward from there. Instead, we got Hello. I've enjoyed a lot of the concepts/music the group has put out after that (esp. View), but it's never really been exactly what I wanted. I suppose I'd be more disillusioned had I gotten into SHINee at any other point in their career, as Lucifer seems to have been the exception rather than the rule.

But like you said, compared to SHINee, Taemin has been doing darker concepts rather constantly already and even Jonghyun could occasionally take his solo career in that direction (we already saw that with Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)).
