I like Blackpink, Whistle is probably one of my favorite releases this year, but I can't help but feel like they're missing something? Like that "it" factor. Maybe it's because they still feel green to me, it's as if they're all models who can dance or rap well enough, but not good enough to pull off the amount of swag needed to carry some of this choreo, and some of these releases. It just comes off a bit awkward lol.

i think the girls are good as they are but in my opinion what makes them feel off is the way they're marketed. yg likes to push that idea of "authenticity" amongst their artists. that their personalities are genuine, that their talent is organic, et cetera. but this all clashes with how blackpink was assembled to appeal to the public by being pretty and skinny and less aggressive and outspoken like 2ne1 was, but with the yg tag. there's this disconnect between the two and that makes it seem like their concept as a group is jumbled.

I'm suprised that I like their overall styling, some pieces are still a no-no, but it's nice there are also kind of signature ones like those flowy shirt/blouses, black shorts/minis, highlited with wide belts waists or overknees. It all fit the girls, season and makes them stand out from other ggs (like I barely see female idols wearing jackets like Jennie's one or there are not a lot of sleeves in general)

Jennie and Jisoo looked so pretty in the Stay performance! I don't get why people are so salty about Jisoo, look at her, she's gorgeous. And Jennie's grey ombre fits her great. But please, someone saves Lisa from her hair stylist lol.
PLAYING WITH FIRE!!! The stage was great, the outfits omg I need all of them, the formation is really good and was shown pretty well by the camerawork. Lisa and Rosé obviously enjoy this kind of songs. and Jennie slays as usual.
I love that Jennie is singing more for this round of promotion, her deep voice brings a lot of depth to their sound!

lol yeah, jisoo looks really awkward on that fancam! maybe it's just me but I don't mind one person in the group not being as good a dancer as the others (as long as she can keep up and not ruin the group choreo), it's kind of endearing and relatable. It's the Sohye factor, "she can't dance well but she works so hard~" I know it really annoys some fans that there's a member dragging the group down, but bad dancers can contribute in other ways. Idk I'll always root for the Tiffanys and Sohyes of kpop lol

I was so sure the inkigayo PWF stage had some live vocals, especially since jisoo messed up the lyrics one time and I heard the timing difference in the backing track and the live vocals (or at least that's what it sounded like to me). This one sounds pre-recorded though? aish it's so hard to tell...

Stay bores me tbh. Whose idea was it to give them a country ballad? that harmonica is so jarring. But PWF <3 <3
