JYPE on 2PM: "There will be no new leader"

6-member 2PM revealed their stand about a leader member in the team with the release of their full length album ‘1:59PM’ and coming back with promotional activities for title song ‘Heartbeat’.

A JYP representative said, “There is no new leader for 2PM. The boys have been together since trainee days and until now they know the roles that each of them are confident of, and they have also matured much, then they feel that there is no need for a new leader. There are no plans for choosing a new leader.”

The representative also said, “And when the members need a leading role and when they are in need for help and guidance, every member will take on the role to help every other member. Currently, every member is playing the role as a leader.”

JaeBum, who has left the group earlier, has been given the nickname of ‘leadja’ as the leader to the team by fans. When he left, many fans were left wondering what will happen to the group without a leader role.

Furthermore, Park Jin Young recently said on MBC Golden Fishery that JaeBum will return as 2PM if he comes back. Hence it seems there is no need to choose for a new leader as of now.

Meanwhile, it is revealed the boys will not be appearing on variety shows, there are only plans for them to appear on music shows. They had their comeback stage on 12th November performing as 6 members officially for Mnet ‘O Good Concert’.

Yeah, I kinda figured as much since they're already into their comeback and no "___ is now leader" announcement has been made (though if you ask me, Taec seems like defacto quasi-leader right now, which I would be ok with). Also, it seems like Junho and Wooyoung have been promoted in terms of vocals too...at least something a little positive came out of all this.

Not having them on varieties will fucking suck. I have no problem with the performance being dark and stuff but I NEED to see them having fun and shaking asses.

I doubt the boys are in a hurry to fill Jay's shoes. They're probably more comfortable this way.

The leader thing is weird cause I always forget G dragon is the leader of big bang but Taeyang takes the lead in everything.

I don't really follow 2pm, but is Junsu the main vocal? It doesn't seem like it. Also, he never seems to look the same, if that makes sense... Like the way he looks varies from photo to photo. Just sayin'.

Yeah, Junsu is lead vocalist. Jay used to be main vocalist (one step under lead but still prominent) and he used to sing the chorus along with Junsu, but now Wooyoung and Junho are taking turns being main vocalists and singing the chorus with Junsu.

i don't think anyone really appointed taec to take the reigns, but it does seem like he just naturally has kind of become the organizer. and they all seem to listen to him pretty well (even khun and junsu who are older). it must be his manager ok style!

Agreed. & especially where the MuBank perf showed him in the center as part of the intro (Yeah, I get that the song begins with him) but he showed total leader force in that perf.

Everyone, don't take this as a "Taec is a better leader than Jay" comment. It definitely isn't. Jay is super special & can't be replaced. :)
