hard carry didn't grow on me and I'm sad that I didn't follow this comeback as I used to do with got7. what happened to youngjae?

It didn't grow on me either and neither did any of their other songs sadly. I actually stopped following them this comeback tho I really liked fly. Is youngjae ok? He seems to be sick frequently :/

yeah, the album as a whole didn't impress me. I only listen "mayday" occasionally and I only paid attention to this song in the first place because it's from jinyoung lol

I read youngjae is sick and absent from some stages, but I don't know what he has exactly. I don't know if jype release a detailed statement or if it's just me not updated up with got7 news...

i was looking forward to mayday actually (cause yeah jinyoung haha) but didnt like it in the end =/ i kinda liked prove it (so funny they used it as the backing track for their teaser) but none of the songs are on replay/on my phone. i thought the songs were really noisy and not very cleanly produced =/

haha... ive not been updated myself but it seems like jyp only said he's sick... til the 28th or sth hmm

Tbh I didn't follow their performances that much either, I think the variety shows and vapps they did this comeback were the highlight and are what made it awesome.

I actually like Hard Carry lol but I think Fly was more like their "color" and hoped they would continue with that.

And yeah they haven't told us what Youngjae has, only that he's been to the doctor and was diagnosed to have sufficient rest. I don't wanna be OOT with this since we don't know the whole truth yet but this group needs a break seriously.

Aw it's not their best song but not their worst one either imo. Plus I liked it for the whole aesthetic & attempt at a storyline ~~which they failed to continue big time in Hard Carry~~ they had going on more than anything 💔

(Then again I love SSI the song which seems to be the least popular song in their discography so what do I know lol)

SSI is one of their best songs. Tbh all of their singles until FLY were instant bops and while I wasn't checking for them like that, I knew they always delivered. I eventually grew to love Fly though, and the mini is great.

Hard Carry on the other hand is a hard pass. I really tried to get into it but I just couldn't. Not even Youngjae could save it for me.
They need to drop this BTS cosplay, especially when they have actual singers in their group.

SSI is probably my favorite songs from them tbh. And they've always had good title songs (the rest of the albums are always kinda 50/50 for me).

It took some time for me to warm up to Hard Carry (and the awful rapping didn't help) but now I'm kinda digging it lol. Also overall imo Turbulence is their best album so far.

Their vocal line is stronger than their rap line and imo they've always been pretty different from BTS they should just do their own thing, tho it seems like they're still kinda searching for what their "thing" is (esp since the storyline concept I thought they were going for kinda failed, imo it had great potential but Hard Carry was such a let down after Fly, story-wise. I noticed btw JYP is doing the same thing with Twice now, I hope it's better executed with them)

yeah, the sad part, for myself, is that it seems like hard carry is the sound they want to do. or at least that's what I got for comments around their posts here lol correct me if I'm wrong... so for one side, I'm happy they're finally doing music (and concept) they want, but, at the same time, I feel a bit sad because it's not my personal taste. "if you do" is what I wanted them to do. I like the song, concept, dance... I thought they were going down that route, but guess I was wrong lol

their variety content is always a good thing, but I'm not feeling this either because, like you said, they seem SO TIRED that I can't even enjoy it? their got2day series for this era worried me a bit because they're so quiet an sleepy... 100% different for their first "season". and to be really honest here, that thing with mark and bambam during their US tour and how jype handled... I can say that it droveme away a bit from the group (I'm still jinyoung af, but I'm more invested in his career as an actor than got7 right now)

I looooved IYD and I'd love if they had more similar concepts. But at the same time I also see their image as too "bright" to fully go 100% dark&serious y'know? (I guess there's that disconnection I was talking about). That's why there was something in Fly that I liked, because it floated somewhere between light and dark image-wise (but my perception might be horribly biased because of my love for Jinyoung's acting lol) even if the song wasn't their best.

I was very disappointed in how the whole BamBam&Mark issue was handled (or more like wasn't handled) but it's not like I think they are awful people or I somehow can't enjoy got7 anymore because of it (I still got hyung-line minus Mark pulling me in and I'm also invested in following how their careers develop, esp Jinyoung with his acting and Jackson in variety).

I think the fact that they're finally doing the music they want is a good thing in the end. it's not something that all kpop groups can do. maybe it's just a sign that it's not for me lol I will always prefer them doing what they want and feel comfortable with.

I think the bright image they have has a lot to do with how jype sold them at first. yes, they're a bunch of dorks, but I think it has more to do with the jype idea for the group overall image than being a result of their own personalities? if that makes sense... lol I don't think if you do is a dark concept per se. just a more mature and adult one. I don't know how it was received by their fanbase tho. I always had the feeling that they were living for that concept, but maybe I was just projecting lol

I also don't think they're awful people, but the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. and this combined with a comeback that didn't impress me pull me away a bit from them as a group.

I kinda entered the fandom around IYD so I don't know tbh how it was received but I've seen people argue both for and against it (there were those who loved them in the Just Right aesthetic (not my favorite at first, took some time for me to warm up to that song/concept) and ppl who loved the mature sexy look, like me lol).
Then when I got to know the group & music some more IYD felt like something disconnected from their other stuff, but maybe it was because of how they were sold initially like you said (aaaand also maybe because they're a bunch of dorks lol). What really made me a fan had a lot to do with their personalities, maybe even more than their music tbh.

To me they've never had a distinct "sound" per se, so I haven't known what to expect, but now that I'm learning more of them and they're contributing more into the production of their own music I'm starting to feel the "color" that they're going for (ofc idol groups can do a variety of concepts but I personally prefer if a group has a somewhat cohensive sound). There was some good stuff in Flight Log (& I did like Fly) but I think Turbulence is their best album overall so far, so if this is the direction they're going for and want to go for, I'll be happy (but regardless if I liked it or not you're right the best thing in the end would be for them to be able to do the kind of music they want, which is not what every idol gets to do)
