It’s been reported that G-DRAGON has been invited to receive the honor of the Korean Prime Minister Recognition Award at the upcoming ‘2016 Pop Culture and Arts Awards’ hosted by Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. The awards ceremony, which is slated to take place on October 27th, is an annual event that celebrates different artists, entertainers, script writers, and more who have contributed to pop culture and the arts.

G-DRAGON will be receiving the honor of being recognized for his success as a K-pop artist who’s made a huge contribution to the Hallyu wave with his music, style, and more!

idk myself tbh, i predicted the hate but eh, i guess too bad? i'm glad that ji's getting this award though. people may hate him but they can't deny how much he (and bigbang) has (have) influenced kpop (and k-entertainment in general, i'd say too but idk)

He deserves this even if it was only for songwriting: he's had a major influence in the past 10 years, and his achievements are especially remarkable considering that he's still in his 20s.

I mean nothing against the other BB members but GD's solo work and projects usually get a lot more attention especially his fashion stuff. I rarely hear about Taeyang plus Seungri and Daesung aren't as successful as GD. Maybe TOP, but his art stuff is a bit hipster and he's quiet about it?

Yeah I mean BoA was one of the first Kpop stars to make it internationally. Even PSY, who although doesn't really deserve it, his Gangnam Style made Kpop even more popular around the world. So why not either of them? This is so confusing.
