The Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) has come to a decision regarding a kiss scene and a changing scene in the KBS2 drama “Moonlight Drawn By Clouds.”
It was previously reported that a scene from episode one, when Kim Yoo Jung’s character, Hong Ra On, is changing clothes and is shown wrapping her chest with bandages in order to disguise herself as a boy, was under review by the KCSC after viewers sent in complaints, saying it was overly revealing because Kim Yoo Jung is a minor. Along with that scene, the kiss scene between Park Bo Gum and Kim Yoo Jung was also under review. On October 19 KST, the KCSC announced that it will send KBS an official recommendation regarding these types of scenes. It explained, “Fundamentally speaking, it is wrong to cast a minor when there is a revealing scene or kiss scene in the script. If an adult had performed these scenes, there would be no problem at all.”
Actress Kim Yoo Jung is currently 16 years old. According to broadcast standards and laws, anyone under 19 is considered a minor. The KCSC stated, “The biggest problem is whether a minor can play an adult role. One might say that since the standards are ambiguous anyway, why not just let it go, but if we go easy on Kim Yoo Jung, who is 16 years and 10 months, then later on, there will be questions on whether we should let a 15-year-old do the same thing. We need to discuss whether we can continue to let minors play adult roles. We are worried about young adults being provocatively exposed.”

Date: 2016-10-21 07:20 am (UTC)I don't even object to the kiss scene per se, I mean 16-17-year-olds kiss too but they should have been more mindful of Yoojung being a minor and cut that creepy changing scene. Same with Kim Sohyun and her kiss scenes with Taecyeon, I find it gross the director lied to her about it.

Date: 2016-10-21 03:51 am (UTC)Honestly, I'm not so much upset about casting minors as leads as long as the character is age appropriate but for me, I think that minors should stay away from the romance genre since it tends to get messy and they will have plenty of time to play grown up roles later
This situation had bad written all over it since th beginning so I hope producers are more careful in the future

Date: 2016-10-21 07:28 am (UTC)But idk why Korea is trying to sexualise these girls at light speed, two years ago SBS cast her in a role that involved her becoming a love interest to Lee Je-hoon who was literally DOUBLE her age and people protested the shit out of + got them to replace Yoojung for the love interest parts as an adult. And despite that you still had people going "but her first lead role! But it's totally chaste!" like um, no, I think not sexualising a 15-year-old girl is more important.

Date: 2016-10-21 12:04 pm (UTC)While I love Kim Yoojung and I thought she was perfect for Ra On, they shouldn't have cast her with Bogum. Or they could have gone the route of Mirror of the Witch where at least it was more tolerable because there were no kiss scenes.

Date: 2016-10-23 04:23 pm (UTC)The kiss doesn't bother me as much since Bogum is still pretty young and they didn't like passionately kiss, it was more of a lip touch. If they would have had her kissing a guy in his late 20s or early 30s then that would have been really gross.
Overall, there could have been better decisions made.
