On October 15, FNC Entertainment posted a statement on AOA’s official fan cafe to inform fans that Youkyung is no longer with FNC Entertainment.

The agency stated, “We are informing you of AOA’s drummer Youkyung’s contract finishing with FNC. After an adequate period of time and discussion this decision was made in respect to Youkyung’s opinion.”

The statement continued, “Although her contract with the company has ended, she will continue to participate in AOA band projects as a guest member.” The agency ended with asking fans to continue to love and support Youkyung with her new start as well as AOA.

Youkyung debuted and was introduced as a member of AOA in 2012 and last promoted with AOA with “Moya” in 2013 as a member of sub-unit AOA Black.

We wish Youkyung the best of luck!

What band projects FNC?
The ones the girls have been begging for for years now?
The ones you constantly refused them? These non-existant projects?

Well, it wasn't like fnc was doing anything with her

It's obviously better for her, I guess she can now negotiate contracts for a promotion length instead of a big, exclusive one. Good luck to her !
I'm still so mad at how FNC threw away an original project that would have set AOA apart, while keeping the successful idol formula as main act. I'll keep replaying Without You, I guess.

Good for her tbh. The whole situation was never in her favor :(

It says she'll still be performing with "the band" as a guest performer. So basically as a free agent paid on a case by case basis or given temp contracts that last the promotional period only.

i have doubts that aoa black will be back tho

id be so pissed off if i was her

i hope shes generally okay, i cant imagine being in a band where all the members hit big and get popular and you're stuck without promotion because of your agency :/ :(

so is AOA still "8 members" or officially only 7 now? either way :( i guess it's good that she got out since she was getting nothing out of it tho

I honestly completely forgot about her until this post, which i guess is kinda the point. It's a shame how long she has had to waste at an agency which gave her no support.

Disappointed but not surprised. They were giving her nothing to work with.

FNC basically treated her as a guest member since debut tbh... bleh.

Other FNC people never really interacted/mentioned her and other AOA members hardly do it either, she deserves better.

*was pushed out of her group.

I feel terrible for her, I really do.

She and E-young (does anyone even remember E-young?) should team up and make an awesome band.

unfortunately Bebop disbanded a while ago... it seems Jiin's doing modelling and acting, Juwoo seems to be modelling?, and Ayeon's still drumming and getting rather famous in China!

That would be awesome! Poor Eyoung. Joining so late and now pledis have basically made it clear that pledis girls are after school's replacement. I wonder if they'd let her join pledis girls if she still wants to do the whole idol dance thing rather than be in a band

she was never treated like a member of aoa in the first place, i hope she does better somewhere else

No one can blame her for getting the hell away from there.

Lmao what band projects

I wish her success and an agency that appreciates her (if idoldom is still a route she wishes to pursue)

i'm so mad on her behalf, fnc did her unbelievably dirty. remember when they included her in that fan event in japan(??) either last or this year and people had a brief flicker of hope...

Why couldn't she take part in all of AOA's promotions? I don't follow them so this is confusing.

More like they knew they were doing her dirty and let her out/gave into her demands because of it.

I am SO MAD on her behalf! The dual concept idea was what made me pay any attention to AOA and when they made both units work for 'get out' I was hopeful they'd trade off concepts between comebacks like they had and just......UGH

if she's happy then I'm happy but I feel so deceived

This sucks. Wonder girls have proven that girl band concepts can work in kpop and yet dnc decides to do this

I don't blame her. She didn't even promote with her own group for three years. Every comeback I hoped she would show up and she didn't. She deserved better.
