During the Chuseok special of MBC program “Duet Song Festival,” FIESTAR’s Linzy opens up about her group’s lack of fame in comparison to peer groups AOA and EXID, who debuted around the same time as FIESTAR.

“It’s been four to five years since we’ve debuted,” Linzy shares during her interview. “Peers artists who debuted with us have gotten really big [like] AOA, EXID, and many more.”

“We thought that as long as we debuted, everything would turn out well, but in reality it wasn’t that easy,” Linzy continues. “It’s sad because time is passing and I’m getting older.”

However, Linzy isn’t ready to throw in the towel just yet. “But I haven’t give up. Even now, I practice hard in the early morning with a ‘Let’s see who wins’ mindset. I sang while crying,” she reveals.

I like her/am rooting for Fiestar but it makes me really uncomfortable when groups openly lament their lack of fame. For some reason it's just not a good look.

i mean i think it partly her management sucks at promoting anyone but iu. on the other hand, i don't think some members in fiestar have that star quality like hyemi's been disappointing and boring on that girl's spirit show.

hyemi is legit the one i notice the least

hyemi and linzy seem to have the least going for them in terms of personality that would catch a casual's attention, like ??? idk they don't have that x factor that makes them stand out.

i'm not trying to hate because i know you're a huge fiestar stan and i love your informative posts, that's just my opinion and i definitely don't expect you to feel the same.

yea i was rooting for her in the show but it doesn't seem like she fully enjoys herself, always seem to be to holding back.

it's not like the other groups didn't suffer for ages tho. exid couldn't eat and they considered disbanding before hani's fancam blew up :/

I understand her and I think Fiestar deserves more recognition but sadly debuting won't make you famous, you need to constantly promote your group in a lot of different ways

oh I see, I guess they just didn't appeal to people then(?) anyway I love their songs I hope they won't give up

omg she didn't even say anything shady why all the negativity

love her voice <3

It's not shady. I think that just in general people don't like seeing a pity party. Even for someone not famous, if you had a coworker complaining that the person that started at the same job at the same time as them was able to get a promotion over them, you might get annoyed, unless they were your friend. (And even if they are your friend sometimes).

Fiestar...😢 they shared a Weekly Idol episode with Spica in 2012 and their fortunes have been somewhat similar since then. I like seeing them on the same variety shows like Secret Weapon and Girl Spirit but too bad both shows aren't popular..

it's strange though, they have two members who got popular but the group itself just won't take off.

It happens...look at ZE:A...4/9 members are very popular individually but the group itself never got anywhere.

i really loved their debut song, same with history but its a shame either groups can't seem to get popular. i wish loen would promote them more...

yikes at some of these comments. all of these groups have been in the trainee system for like YEARS before debuting theyve been told since childhood that if they work hard for years they'll debut and live a good life etc. so to debut and it not be what they hoped for is obviously a little heartbreaking.

i'm surprised at the lack of empathy here. i don't think it's in bad taste to compare yourself to other groups who have debuted in the same period, it's not like linzy said anything bad. fiestar had some really good songs, it's a shame they're not getting any bigger (although i only like three of their members lmao). i thought yezi would help but nothing came out of it. hyemi is not doing well on girl spirit either. shame.

...because exid wasn't about to disband before the hani fancam and because aoa barely got any attention before they went sexy...

maybe fiestar gets no attention because of their members' ignorance? didn't cao lu and jei start the curry-dol thing?

Curry-dols was a controversy just in certain ifandom circles, its not not something that could hurt their career lol. Theyve been struggling for a very long time tho, even before this

Especially after cao lu and yezi blew up it's understandable to feel that way, i mean cao lu blew her chance but when they had two ridiculously popular members it was weird that their songs continued to struggle on the charts

At least Yezi is bringing in some proper income for them these days. I hope Linzy does get more opportunities, the public seems to be into lead vocals these days what with the amount of solos coming out and programmes like mask best singer and girl spirit. Now that Cao Lu's blown her bubble I hope they keep pushing Jei strongly too.

booooo @ all these negative comments
I love linzy's voice. It's great and I wish her a lot more popularity. Fiestar's songs are also great and I'm sad for them (I choose to ignore apple pie and that weird ballady song they did once)

Given the amount of effort, money and time it takes for people to debut, it's naturally frustrating if that doesn't get rewarded with a super succesful career with much money and fame and opportunities.

I wish all idols the best but obviously everyone should have a solid back up plan, because it won't last forever.

i don't think anyone should judge unless they've been in the same position... idols pour their whole life into their career and there's no one right way to deal with a lack of success
i really wish every girl group could be a big hit but there just isn't enough room for all of them to be big stars. i just want them to keep doing what they love (if they do love it). as long as you're able to stay active and making music, you're doing better than the groups that disbanded. all you can do is keep going and hope for your big break.

it's like yeah she has the right to feel how she feels but it's silly when hundreds of groups debut every year to think statistically you're going to make it. even if you debuted years ago

i don't think they really squeezed any of their moments for their worth like yezi being another trend it girl and cao lu becoming more popular

one more and you're pitiful were their best songs tbh they should've promoted all they could with those, mirror was a lesser you're pitiful 2.0 and apple pie was a waste of time

i think the reason i don't exactly sympathize is because if you love music, you're going to find a way to put out music no matter if you never reach the next door person's level of fame

and ia with other commenters, aoa and exid worked for years before breaking through and whose to say they'll even maintain their spots for the next few years?

get out of the basement, do some busking, put out some covers, put out some blogs, go on your forum, just do anything you can in the mean time
