Date: 2016-09-02 08:40 pm (UTC)According to the preview Oh Yeon Joo dies, but there should be hopefully another plot twist and she survives (maybe another retcon b/c she's now a part of W).
I like the "new" Kang Chul more than the old one, but tbh I miss the suits and his friends. I'm not sure whether it's cruel or merciful to leave them like this in W.

Date: 2016-09-02 11:53 pm (UTC)I like this KC that's in control of how he gets to and from the world. I don't think I've grasped how he's able to do that just yet. Now YJ can get her life together and stop acting like it's the end of her life because there's no KC, lol. They were able to fix the story and drive it in a different direction without making KC lose his memory of everything.
Ep 13, this dinner where KC is basically like "Waddup future Papa-In-Law, sorry I capped yo' ass that time, let's eat!" Lmao. Papa Oh's face during that scene was priceless. YJ's professor is such a mess, leave the woman alone, lol. "I don't know any Yeon Joo that is decent." Lmao damn. And KC is just there taking the piss out of the man. Love it.
This show has the best transitions. The first being YJ's submersion into Han River from the bathroom and the follow up being KC driving from "reality" to "W" and back to "reality" was so damn cool. It's as simple as a transition can be, but I thought it was awesome. Well, I guess I should say it was Sohee who experienced the transition. Poor Doyoon though, he is not mentally prepared to deal with all of this foolishness, lol.
The change of the scene and the change of Papa Oh's character. Brilliant. Obviously, it wasn't going to be easy for KC to simply live in the real world as a main protagonist in a different world. Something as a simple thought could bring anyone from W to reality, and that would be a shitty way to live. Now that the killer is seemingly dead.....I wonder what will happen now.
Is anyone still reading this manhwa??
Date: 2016-09-03 02:08 am (UTC)Episode 13 cemented an idea that I'd been bouncing around for a while. The "manhwa" world isn't a manhwa but in fact its own actual, real world. The manhwa is just a window into this other world. Sort of like ABC's "Once Upon a Time" where the storybook was a window into the fairy tale world but the fairy tale characters are all real, living breathing people with pasts and futures. Kang Chul is no more a "cartoon character" than Yeon Joo is. Perhaps, YJ didn't so much create KC as she "saw" him, perhaps in a dream because she's naturally attuned to his world the way her father is?
With that in mind, KC and YJ teaming up to rewrite the story is no more effective than you or I "writing" our own life stories. The world/universe has its own plans and will always create variables/obstacles to enact its plans. So YJ's la-di-da fantasy of KC becoming a part of her life so seamlessly seems rather childish to me. This, honestly, is what I dislike about the way she's being written. It seems like after KC became aware, YJ lost her self-awareness and has been relegated to pining female lead who only cares about the dream husband, house with picket fence and 1.5 kids. I'm saying I want her to obsess over KC's world (and the state its in with the villain in the front seat) but a little more concern for KC's friends (Soo Hee, Do Yoon) would be nice considering how easily they could end up with holes in their heads.
On the bright side, Lee Jong Seok was in top form during the scene with Crazy Dog. He's so good at playing the coy, cheeky rascal; his winks and subtle smiles always get me in the feels. As usual, Su Bong slays. I really do hope my mans get its money back from KC though lol.
Re: Is anyone still reading this manhwa??
Date: 2016-09-03 03:56 am (UTC)I realised I don't actually care much about the OTP at all, and part of that is bc of the way their characters are written. Kang Chul is literally a construct and Yeon Joo dgaf about anything but him and her dad. I like LJS/HHJ in the more comedic moments and they look great together but their chemistry isn't the kind that has me rooting for them to tear down all the walls of a fictional universe so they can be together. Like I'm in this more to see what insane shit will happen next and be scared out of my mind like Soobong (give the poor guy his money back pls!) than to root for the couple.
I'm really glad LJS took this role tho. It's a change from his previous sensitive-boy dramas and it'll be nice to have a recent example to point out when people start on their 'he always plays the same roles!' trip. I'm really looking forward to his turn as a villain too.
Re: Is anyone still reading this manhwa??
Date: 2016-09-03 04:08 am (UTC)I wont read the manhwa before but I will truly check out the roller coaster plot since its insane and very creative. :)) Not to mention in the manhwa, Kang Cheol shot the father and in real world, there's news on the TV of the father being shot -- what a coincidence lol. I will be super invested with the storyline by then.
Re: Is anyone still reading this manhwa??
Date: 2016-09-03 07:42 pm (UTC)That's def what they were going for but if that's the case why do they start fading away once their plotline stops serving a purpose? They wouldn't just disappear like that if it were an actual world.

Date: 2016-09-03 03:41 am (UTC)Also Soobong is all of us, I love both his utter terror and his bouts of fanboying. Someone give that poor guy a raise and a holiday so he can go somewhere nice after this. Preferably somewhere in this world and not a manhwa lol.

Date: 2016-09-03 03:54 am (UTC)I love the fact that this drama keeps surprising me with the storyline. Usually you can predict basically everything in kdramas but not this one (at least not all of it). I love the fact that Kang Cheol shot Yeon Joo, he also shot the father, the killer shot Yeon Joo and the list goes on. You cant find this kind of thing in other kdramas which made me really enjoy it a looooot.

Date: 2016-09-03 02:10 pm (UTC)w has been okay so far but these last few eps i've been loving.
if i had to guess what is happening even though i have no idea, i would say maybe the main girl is a manhwa character and suddenly her fictional character had a genre change from like slice to life to action/fiction where she winds up getting inside her favorite manhwa. maybe the author of the girl's story made that weird villain so that's why no one from W or YJ's world can control it since neither created it. idk though because some of these "variables" are hard to follow.
