Date: 2016-08-29 04:28 pm (UTC)I love the joker, as a character he's incredibly complex and unpredictable in a lot of ways. That being said he's an AWFUL AWFUL being. Everything about him from start to finish in every incantation of him is that of a psychopath who doesn't care for any life including his own. Harley Quinn has gotten the worst of it, even in Suicide Squad (Where the joker is portrayed as being in love with Harley which stop.) He tortures her in all the origin scenes of them together.
Harley Quinn is simply a tool to the Joker, and it was in his best interests to have her fall madly in love with him. The reason he tosses her into the same chemicals that made him who he was, was always to insure that Harley remained forcibly tied to him. He wanted her to see the world, "through his eyes." mostly so he could control her and make her feel like no one else could understand her but him.
It's literally the WORST relationship, it's not even supposed to be portrayed as a nice one, it's one man openly abusing and stringing along a girl who has fallen deeply for him and can't or doesn't wish to break that bond regardless of how awful he is to her. So many people keep saying "I want a Mr. J" and it makes my skin literally crawl.
