WM Entertainment's translated announcement reads as follows:
"JinE is stopping all promotions due to her health condition. First, we apologize for the sudden news to all the fans who gave love to Oh My Girl and JinE. She has been showing signs of anorexia since debut and has been going to the hospital to receive treatment. After a long and thorough discussion with JinE, we decided on a break as our artist's health is first and foremost. The remaining 7 members will carry on the upcoming schedules without JinE, however, we will continue to support JinE throughout her break. We once again apologize for the sudden news. Please give Oh My Girl unchanging love and attention."

I am very worried about her. I almost wish she could leave and get proper treatment :(

This much needed break should have come a lot sooner tbh. It feels like they've been promoting non-stop for ages. I hope she gets the help she needs. :(

Poor girl! I'm just so angry with this industry r/n. So much pressure, and OMG just haven't been able to catch a break.
I'm glad she's been pulled from promos and I just hope she's given adequate time to recover & the long-term help she may need.

Oh My Girl have been riddled with health problems for ages. I hope this is the start of WM actually doing something about it instead of just continuing to work them to the bone.

hasn't she or another OMG member been in the news for this earlier? it's good that they're naming the issue for what it is, because the pressure on girls in kpop to look a certain way is huge and the influence that the body type that kpop promotes has on girl groups (and on their fans for that matter!) needs to be addressed. companies should also be introspective about this themselves.

she deserves and needs a long-term break for the industry to recover.

didnt someone from oh my girl have anorexia already? and also binnies health is not in great condition
wm needs to seriously rethink their plan. although pushing comeback after comeback helped them rise on the charts, it wont last in the long run since they will be so overworked. id rather have them comeback once a year and release amazing concepts like closer than have luke warm comebacks with no substance like windy day and aing

Poor Jine. Fighting against an eating disorder is a long battle, I hope she gets better soon <3
I'm conflicted about their company. One the one hand, it's great that they're being supportive and open about anorexia, like Sojung's compagny back then and Jine already when she was first diagnosed, hopefully it can help other people suffering from this or encourage compagnies to takes care of their idols, too. On the other hand... Oh My Girl have such a busy schedule since they were getting ready for Liar Liar promotions, I was sadly expecting one of them to faint at that point :/ And they've just had concerts, right? I wouldn't be surprised if the company waited for the concerts to be over to allow her rest

I don't know how to feel about this

angry because apparently this poor girl admitted that she's been fighting with anorexia since their "Closer" promotions so they should have treated her THEN instead of just taking care of it now

or worried because she could've possibly relapsed since then (her agency and JinE herself claimed she was okay after she revealed her ED)

either way, I'm glad she's been pulled from promos and I hope they give her enough time and not just your standard 3 to 7 days off.

damn!!!!! i feel so bad for her and anyone who has anorexia
it doesnt help that theyve been promoting nonstop too :(

sadly, she obviously isnt the first nor last to undergo this, kpop really needs to address this unhealthy diet idols are going through....

Im glad shes taking a rest, but honestly it should have happened earlier. She already had problems months ago idk what WM was waiting for. Anorexia is a scary and dangerous illness, Jine needs a proper treatment and kpop industry is not the safest environmnt for someone like her. I rly hope she and WM are aware she might need a reaaaaaally long break and wont rush anything

I'm SO glad her company lets her take a break and I'm surprised (positively, though!) that they even named the problem!

Wishing her the best for her recovery! Get well, JinE!!!

That was the most surprising part of this. Agencies generally don't want to admit the problem and hide it to "protect" their images. I hope she gets well and I also hope that the fans will be able to learn from this as well.

I was worried when they had comeback after comeback this year. They should ALL be resting at home.

this is so awful. i hope she gets better soon but i don't trust wm in handling this well with how they've been overworking the girls this year. i worry about the other members too :(

My heart goes out to her, I've seen first-hand how bad anorexia is and it can be so difficult for the person to recover. It's such a deep-rooted psychological issue/condition, that it can be difficult to let go of it. I can only hope that the company is getting her genuine help for this, because it's much more than her just not eating.

So many problems concerning the expectations of idols needs to be addressed, both from the companies and the public. Where there's smoke there's fire, and the circle of negativity that surrounds these idols (concerning their looks, weight etc.) is that fire.

From: [identity profile] pikapika217.livejournal.com
this is so upsetting but what might upset me the most is how unsurprising the development is to me since SO MANY girls have to jump through these hoops to be acceptably idol. Everyone seems to be on a crazy diet of some sort or talks about working out often and it's really sad since it's not like their male counterparts have the mountain of pressure they do.

Poor girl. I hope she gets treatment.

Unfortunately, there are probably others in the industry who are in the same situation :(

I hope she gets the treatment that she needs. It must be so hard to do this in the public light too. They've been promoting nonstop all year, which probably didn't help her at all either.

Wishing her the best.

I hope WM doesn't expect a pat in the back, because her illness is not news, and they clearly did not take it as seriously as they want us to believe if she's been pulled in this endless circle of promoting ten thousand comebacks since LAST YEAR. I'm no expert in eating disorder but she sure as hell wasn't gonna heal or regain strength with these never-ending promos. *scoff* I bet they'll have a late Fall or Winter comeback and JinE will be there, and they'll release heart-warming PR bout how WM didn't want her to participate, but she "insisted" because group over health! And WM had upon seeing such strong dedication, had no "choice" but to let her promote with them. ...*sigh* this company is shit.

I think you're right but I also think that it is not black and white situation, idk if her sitting out of the group would be good for her and not adding up to her insecurities.

honestly i want her to get better but the industry being what it is i think it's gonna be hard as hell, there's diet talk and fatshaming everywhere and it's most likely just enabling her disease. when i was recovering from an ed it was hard even hearing my friends make the occasional "i need to lose weight" comment, let alone what she must be dealing with on a daily basis :/

this. the industry itself and the environment she's in has gotta be really triggering. and I don't the company management itself to treat her and her anorexia with sensitivity and compassion.

Everyone in that group should get a proper break. I hope she continues to receive treatment and mental support after this break, but most of all - the Kpop behind the scenes culture needs to change!

Side-eying the company for taking this long to get her treatment if she's 1. Showed symptoms since debut 2. Already mentioned battling it.

I hope she gets the treatment she deserves to get better and hopefully return to omg on a healthier path

it feels like Korea (and Japan) think of eating disorders and body dysmorphia as something that can be treated after a short hospital stay, which it's NOT.

like one of the current top AKB girls took a break in May because she had developed stomach problems as a result of bulimia and she was back after like two weeks? that's nowhere near enough time to even begin tackling the disorder. and if JinE has had an eating disorder since her debut, then she's going to need months and an environment that doesn't trigger her whilst she's in recovery - which kpop is absolutely not.
