I do feel like winning number 1 as soon as possible (same with PAK & CAK) has become easier then it was back in the day? Not to undermine the achievements of these girls - they are awesome - but I don't think it is fair to compare 6/7/8 year old groups and how fast they won to groups that debut nowadays when Kpop has become much more mainstream. That being said, I have no idea what factors are counted in when winning on music shows, so I could be very much wrong, lol.

Edit/ OMG I just watched the winning speech and why are they such cuties? I can't.

definitely. winning #1 on music shows used to be about having a certain level of public (not just kpop fans) recognition achieve (as well as a great song). while i'm sure groups like blackpink are popular among certain demographics and they definitely have a more than decent debut song compared to other groups, their win can be contributed to the yge brand. i don't think the factors of music show wins (album sales, etc) have really revolutionized since 7 or so years ago, but it's more of how kpop is way more commercialized than it was before. especially if you factor in the whole hallyu wave, etc.

i think yge announcing that they're producing a variety show is sign that they see the value of variety appearances ($$$$$) and i feel like blackpink will be part of that! because he did say he modeled this group after snsd somewhat, the whole nation's girl group schtick, and this will really expose the girls to the public and not just kpop fans. i guess producing their own variety is their way of controlling the environment since they're really particular about those things. thank god their marketing team has finally arrived into 2016.

I wish those girls weren't so charismatic so I wouldn't get sucked into another YG trap of horrors. But Jenny in that AC/DC t-shirt on inkigayo and Lisa in general were too much for me, I got out my white flag and surrendered. There are cringe-y elements in both songs, the raindance thing and "whistle like a missile" *shudders* And I'm already annoyed at the obnoxious "too cool for the rest of you" marketing strategy...but those girls, damn, hearts in my eyes for all four. Can Tablo hurry up and conquer the entire YG empire so I can feel less conflicted?

Their  lipsyncing was sooooo bad though, and their dancing kinda awkward. The songs aren't the best thing in the world but wow those scores are impressive and I hope they rise either way and deliver good songs.

congrats!!! is this why they only perform in Inki? because they let them do 2 songs not only for a comeback. Anyway, Lisa is everything in this! She ahs so much presence. I didn't like Boombayah at first, but the performance makes the song more fun. An to me Whistle was lipsync but not Boombayah? I got that impression.
