MRJKPOP (long time Yuri stan) reacts to Seohyun x Yuri Secret MV. I don't know how Omona feels about this dude, but I like his reaction/review videos a lot and I've never seen him fanboy like this lol. I don't even share his enthusiasm for the song, but I think every kpop fan with a bias who has been "waiting their turn" for a long time should be able to relate on some level.

also i watched this dude's vid from way back when he used to be "weirded out" by any hint of suggestive moves from girl groups which rubbed me the wrong way. just came off as another guy policing how a woman should portray herself.

i think ppl are missing the point w this dude, his reactions are posted bc he's highly qualified to talk about whether a song is well-made on the technical side (there are such things as well and badly-made songs, it's something of a science), which not many people are, asian or not

I kind of feel you? I mean I don't get his appeal or interest mostly bc nothing he ever says comes off as more insightful than the average person. I've taken 2 music production courses in highschool and can come up with the same conclusions he does, and then his subjective taste is also really transparent in these vids. He's really not that different from any other kpop fan.

lol i totally get what you mean tho! it seems like his opinion is being hold higher because of his whole image (and yeah, his reviews are snobby and honestly? biased).

i also think people take his opinions too seriously as if he was an expert? reaction videos shouldn't be taken this seriously in the first place, but people, for some reason, seek for this dude's opinion. i really don't care what a white guy wants to say, even if he has knowledgement in production~

Yes, his review of Lifted was spot on. His coverage of CL's career in general has been pretty accurate imo. I was going to include more of his latest reaction/reviews in the original post but I thought it would be pushing my luck, considering how many people dislike these videos (and looks like I was right lol)...I really enjoy fan produced content like this (reviews, mashups, remixes, covers, whatever) but people have such an averse reaction to it here *shrug*

I like him. I think he's a nice voice of reason in a sea of reaction videos. Lol except for this one cause he's fanboying. If anything I find the videos where people INTRODUCE Kpop to white people and they're just like ugh weird, as annoying sometimes. This is just a fan with a music background giving his opinion. As an Asian American fan I think it's interesting to hear someone articulate comparisons to western style of music in a way I cant. Or call out american music influences in a song. Idk something about policing content irks me cause if there are members of the community interested in this why not? But yah you shouldn't take a white guys opinion as an authority in KPOP. It's just his opinion and as long as it's constructive and not harmful I think there's a place for it in the community.

I like the review he did for FTISLAND's Take Me Now since he pointed out the things that normal fans didnt notice which is how great is the arrangement of the song with the guitar rifts and everything. It shows how the members of FTI had gone a long way in producing their music and how good they actually are at it.

I really love this guy. It's so funny to see him SO hyped and excited right off the bat.

He's made me hear a lot in songs that I haven't before and I think its really cool. I'm actually happy he basically called EXO's new song trash ( but now he's getting hate over it, which isn't surprising, so that is unfortunate. )

I like his reaction videos a lot because there's a lot of technical details I'm not aware of, and overall objective opinions. Of course he has biases, but he got good at acknowledging it right away and go on reacting anyway. But sometimes... it's funny to see someone freaking out about their biases (which is why I've seen CMIYC's reaction several times lol, it's just so funny)

I usually find it interesting what he has to say about the songs, especially because he is one of the rare reactors who says when he thinks the song is not good and gives reasons as to why.

Sometimes however he comes off as preachy and the way he cant open his mouth while talking irks me.

After his reaction for blackpink was posted here I went and watched a bunch of his videos and was a bit disappointed because as someone who has absolutely no knowledge regarding music I was hoping i would be able to learn something? I guess I wish it was more of a breakdown of the songs rather than him just listening to it and making some comments here and there

anyways i really enjoy watching reaction videos and mrjkpop has pretty good ones. i do have a musical background and i like when he points out things i don't hear or notice at first listen. his fanboying is pretty hilarious
